Sup Jbody? Some of you might know, i'm here in iraq, and have some great plans for my car when iget home, i ordered a kit and either the gravana coils or the tein SS, but i can't be all show and no go...plus i like go more...lol. So, i'm wanting to have an engine built, (i've never done an engine build and am too scared to attempt it) i'm wanting to Supercharge it, because i want it reliable and have the boost at low rpm's and at the same time...i want to get as much power out of my 2.4l as possible without sacrificing reliability....so does anyone have any suggestions or idea's? Thanks!

well you should be alright with stock internals if you use the gm supercharger (other option is rsm, booo), im not sure how much boost you plan on running but i know Josh F on here is running 10psi on stock internals before his twin charged setup (still running even that on stock internals) so you should be good unless you wanna juice it with some nitrous like im doing. if you wanna do a rebuild id do the exact same stuff i had done, 2.3 pump swap, remove balance shafts, build up the head and do a port and polish ect.
really thouhg, building an engine isn't all that bad. i built my first one on my own when i was 19 with just a referance book from books a million and the chiltons manual so i knew what to check as the clearances. If you get stuck somewhere just call a machine shop or find ANYBODY that you know of that knows anything about engines. but if you just ask a machine shop a question about something stupid like freeze plugs or proper use of plastiguage, they'll have no problem answering questions.
lets see.... trying to add more info.... the book i had was rebuilding the small blck chevy by some guy. I knoew this isn't a 400smbk like i had, but they have the same basic principles so just make a trip to a book store (if they have those in iraq!!) and just start reading
and basically just get in good with the machine shop that does the work on the block. refer back to they for little things liike freeze plugs, bearings, and piston rings and they will answer ANY questions that you'll have. I mean, think about it, don't you want to be able to pick a girl up and have her go, " wow! this car is pretty fast" and you say "well that what I built it for" oh yea, im pretty sure that responce along was the reason i got laid a couple of times.
if that doesn't motivate you i don't know what will
Okay, thanks guys i really do appreciate the reply's, the main reason i want to rebuild the motor is because i've got just about 100k on the motor, and while i've got the money saved up i'd like to rebuild it so i will have no worried in the road ahead. I'd like to run 10psi also, that'd be sweet. I just want it a reliable 10psi, you know what i mean? Does anyone know if Jbodyperformance.com builds LD9's? I'd like to get them to build me a motor, cause i like how they have all the answers to the problems with tthe LD9 like the main bearing thingy they did (just remembered they drill them). They just seem, in my eyes, like the APR of Jbody's, you know? I'd like to have a motor built at a place where they have alot of experience with tthe LD9 engine, knowledge, and aren't in your face expensive. I'll email them and see if maybe i could get an engine built from them....thanks guys!

It is suggested to stay away from JBP. They have put out some pretty shoddy products, includes fully built engines. If you want a built engine (and don't want to do it yourself), just take it to someone 'locally' that has a good rep with the big dogs at the drag strip.
