Exhaust Sound - Not Good

This is probably a really dumb question but I am not an exhaust expert. What would cause the exhaust to give off a poping noise after I hit the gas? When I am not in gear and hit the gas and raise the rpm's up - when they start to come down I lose the throaty sound and it turn to a popping sound. Is it because I have leakes where the pipes connect...would that cause it? I just put different components in and maybe my instillation is lacking. I have a header, dual catback, hi-flow cat, resonator and flex pipe. Sounds great when it is idling but when it comes down it sounds like snap-crackle-pop.

I thought I read somewhere that this was because the exhaust was more open you heard it a lot better, though it even happens when the exhaust is stock. If I remember right it was from air moving back into the pipe? I honestly have no solid idea, but I thought I might have read something like that.

the popping is fuel combusting in the exhaust system.
Europeans LOVE that sound.

too much back pressure, a lot of air in, but not enough getting out

I thought it was air packing up in the muffler and bits and pockets escaping at one time.
lol
I don't know.

My popping sound stopped after I got my resonator. If you don't like it. Put a $20 resonator on.

I have a resonator on it. If it is fuel combusting in the exhaust how do I get rid of it. It is not the worst thing in the world but I wouldn't mind getting rid of that pop sound.

I also heard its the ECU dumping fuel on the over run, when you let off from high rpm, and there isn't a fix I know of other then a resonater. It is probably a mixtrue of all these explanations. Mine does it to and i like it, though it does get a little anoying some times.

It's normal. It's just the engine winding down, a little fuel burning off, a little air moving around, nothing to worry about. And yeah, the only way to get rid of it is either put on a big azz resonator, or a stock exhaust.
