Im wanting to upgrade from the small 52mm TB ive got on my LD9, but couldn't find a definite how to on using a 2.3L TB. Im not sure what years and which version's to get as well. I did how ever see
this, and wasnt sure it was even worth all the money that they want for it. Also, I was wondering if boring my 52mm to a 56mm be the same dimension wise on the inside (not sure on the inner measurement, only the 52mm and 56mm part). Any help would be great, especially a good how to for the future.
They say it gives better top in. Its all about VE...
4mm doesn't seem like much, but calculate the area, vs 52mm, and its substantial.
It does make a nice difference, especially considering that its a 15min. job. helps
ya, but do you notice a loss in low-end torque?
how much of a difference would a bigger TB get you with mild bolt-ons?

4mm cant make that much diff. i think mantapart has a 62mm for a hundred and 50 or 60 somthing dollars.

62mm is too big, at that point the VE and velocity are less and it will hurt performance. it has ben found that the 56mm gives the best overall gain for NA motors.
Ill make a sig someday
I think Mantapart charges $300 for a 56mm
$40 for a 2.3 tb? Damn, & to think when I sold a manifold last year the guy didnt want the 2.3 tb & asked if Id put a 2.4 one on for him lol. Time to clean the garage & find the 2.3 one for Ebay

the pres of our club has a 62 on a rsm manifold and his car @!#$in screams on
19"s . good low end torque. but he has full exhaust, that venom 400 deal, 2.3 pully and 2.2 gears. so that helps too.if you get a header, good high flow exhaust, and a good cai you should be ok

This is what i have heard on here and on other places as well. Since ive got the full exhaust now, and an AEM Short Ram, bigger TB would be worth while at this point.
a 62mm is too big for the NA motors but they are good on the cars that are running on boost, s/c, or turbo. but not for the NA.
Maybe because I have little diff cam profile and lightened crank pulley.
But once upon a time I had the 62mm tb on my car.
Its auto and n/a no mods other than LO cams adn ebay AEM knock off intake.
I'm a granny driver, but the car responded to the tb.
But I could tell the car wanted to get going after 3K, and the xtreme low end wanted to drop off.
Meaning, yes with mods, the tb would kick arse.
But without them it doesn't hurt anything.
Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
why dont you just take your current tb and get it bored out to 56 mm?

I've thought that, but wasnt sure if the inside's were the same diameter throughout, and if the price for getting it done is the same as say buying one thats already been bored.
