2.2 and 2.4 motor mounts
Tuesday, May 09, 2006 12:15 PM
Hello all... I am plannin a motor swap. I currenty have the 2200 from a 99' and was thinkin a looking to swap in a 2.4. A friend of mine came over and it appears as if the actual mounts on the car are the exact same?? Correct me if I'm wrong. The only thing different is the actual mount itself the bolts up to the motor? Can anyone help me with this problem??? If this is true... it would be a very simple swap with the exception of getting a new transmission!!!

^^ wrong info man

the 2.2 and 2.4 use a different plate that bolts into the actuall mount , and in most cases , you cant get that plate with out the whole mount

96-02 2.4 use the same plate

unfortuantly i do not have a picture to show you

its all good , i kinda knew what you meant

cause the mount on the frame is the same for either , just the metal plates that bolt to the mount and the motor are different

you only forgot 1 part , so no biggie

Ok... thanks a lot guys. That helps out a lot as far as swappin over to a 2.4. Should be pretty easy it seems. Ok... I know this is the wrong forum... but what about the tranny mounts that bolt up to a 2.4. Are they the same on every older cavalier?? I plan on swapping over to a 5-speed and ditchin the 3 speed auto.

Which would be better to use?? I would probably go with the Isuzu. I figured I would need cables, clutch, flywheel, new axles (which I planned on buying new ones anyways), but what do you mean by frame rail brackets?? Also what about the brake pedal? My original one wouldn't work? I know I will have to find a way to mount up a clutch pedal. I can do a little bit of welding... nothin pretty though.
