i found a good motor but i dont know if it will work or how hard it will be to do so i thought i would see if any one had any input on the matter it coume with every thing i would need in the motor bay area dont know about the racket pinion so if any one knows i would appreciate any info thanks
I'll be watching this....
the motor is from a 06 cobolt 2.4 liter Ecotec engine and a MN5 fOUR speed automatic and i wiould be droppiong it in my 2000 cavalier. will it even work what would i need for this ?
nobody can tell you anything since no one has done this.
but we can tell you the wiring will be a bitch and the tranny wont fit
better off swapping in a 2.2 eco

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
how will the tranny not fit? size wize? cuz i just got a 2002 2.2L ecotec but i would have to pritty much rebuild it cuz it just came with the block so i dident know if i got this other motor that came with every thing if it would be cheaper in the long run
you have to use a cavalier 2.2 eco trans , and the rest of the stuff for the 2.2 eco in a cav
and youll loose the VVT , and the drive by wire throttle
so my best bet is to just rebuild the 2002 2.2 ecotec i have cuz it only has 700 miles on it. but i just kinda lame from the stock motor specs the 2.4 has Horsepower: 171 and Torque: 163 lb and the 2.2. is only 140 horse and 150 torque
why would you rebuild a motor with 700 miles on it ??
my god...this gets asked like every week and every week we give the same answers..its obvious that they dont try to search first cus they couldve just looked a couple posts down and seen another one..but the simple answer is..
* THIS swap is for those with more money than brain cells *
you can get a turbo and put it on that eco you have and get way more power for less money then what the swap of a 2.4 VVT would cost

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
will i would only replace all the major things Patriot Ecotec 2.2L Stage II Heads Assembled with cams rods and stuff like that so i can runit on a lil higher LBS boost....and i did read some of the other forums on this topic but dident see any about a 2200 to a 2.4 ecotec but this has all been very helpful thank you all. now that i deside to keep the 2.2 i need to find a ecotec tranny cuz i just got a Racing Torque Converter Fits most GM FWD Transmissions. Works with 3800 supercharged and non supercharged, 3.4L, Ecotec 2.2L, 2.4L Twin Cam, and 2.2 OHV motors. Fits 4T40E, 125C, and 4T60E transmission. Fits 4T65E HD with 15-min drill mod. so out of these 3 tranys what would be the best for a auto?
and i have to go with a auto because im in a wheelchair and dont know if theres a hydrolic shift kit out there and any of the 2.2 trannys
I have the wiring schematics for the 2.4 vvt from GM, if I get time to hook up (1st I have to find it, lol) my scanner and host the pics I will.
15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?
the tq converter will fit the eco trans , its a 4t40e or 4t45e
but if you have the ohv motor you will need the trans for the eco , the bolt pattern is different between them'
ya i have to get a new tranny whats the diff between the 4t40e and 4t45e. what ones better?
45 is the stronger 1 susposedly , but when GM switch to it no has really determined
Be a hero and try doing this lol.
My Cav
