Common problem. This is why I do not recommend the electronic O2 sim. Do a search for Manual O2 sim. You can make one for about $5, that works. This same thing is made for the STI's and works.

I really recommend doing the $5 O2 sim. It does work.

I read about it a while back and iirc it requires two 18mm spark plug anti-foulers and basically you are backing the O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream a little by threading the anti-foulers into the bung and the O2 sensor into the anti-foulers.

That is the basic part of it. If you go to Auto Zone, PepBoys go to the help yourself section. You need 2 anti foulers (they come in a pack of 2) part#42002. You need to drill one of them out around a half inch drill bit (maybe one size bigger). Once that is done screw that one (the one you drilled out) into the one that is not. Then screw that into the O2 bung in the exhaust. Now screw your O2 sensor into the exhaust. Reset your code and you should be good. I have doe this on 2 cars, and told a few others about this who have done this as well. So far no one has had problems with it working. The STI's use a part made that does this same thing (only difference is it is made). If you have to buy a drill bit you might spend more around $8-$10.
