RSM Racing offers a 62mm T.B. but i think its a ridiclous $400 cdn or something along those lines, definatly not worth it in my books.

You can get the RSM throttle body or theres also a Reveco large bore Throttle Body except I'm unsure as to where you get the Reveco's.

No do not get anything from RSM.. ever. If you want to, just bore yours out a little or get one off of ebay. I got a 62mm from ebay for $225 I think and I love the top end gains. It's new and clean and just as good as the RSM one. A throttle body is a throttle body, the only difference between them is size, and in this case the size is the same but the price is not. If you can't find it on ebay, PM me and I'll try to look for it.

Best to find someplace locally to get it ported.

Or someone on here can get one made up for you just sem\nd them the money.

Ebay also is a good place to find tbs.
Email the auctioneers and see if they can hook you up with something.

In light of the information showing that RSM reprograming of the computers did not happen on a car that had it. The false claims of horse power that have been proven by an individual. The fact that people acutally measure the 62mm TB to be 60.8 or 60.9. Leave RSM alone.

In all honesty if you have a 2.4 the intake manifold opening is only about 58 or 59 mm wide so the throttle body will only as effective as the opening to the intake manifold.

To answer another question the stock intake manifold is plastick i have looked at it and to bore it out is not that feasible and many can concure with that/

Yup,
Last RSM tb i had the plate measured out to be about 61.2mm
Love them digital calipers.

But....

If you look at the tb itself, there is a little vacuum hole/provision at the bottom.
So in essence, the throttle plate has a limitaition to the size it can be without running into potential problems.

Al least thats the way it looks to be. I have a local shop making me a 62mm but I think they will be about to actually get it out to that size.

Either way, still less than $400.

True, because even porting the little nub around the gasket, its not truly 62mm.
Not untill you port out more getting into the gasket.
But its rubber so its not so bad.
I got mine out to a little over 62mm, ghetto port job, and no leaks (knock on wood).

Will any of the aftermarket tbs for other makes or models work on our cars? I was thinking of trying a 65 mm tb for a Ford Focus 2.0 liter to see if it will fit.

Isn't the RSM TB ported for their HO Manifold?

I am not saying you won't feel a difference but if out intake manifold opening is only 59mm no sense going any bigger you throttle body is only going to be as effective and the opening to the intake manifold which is 59mm
I have a 59mm throttle body which is good.

From older JBO folk they have said that 57mm is the best size to get. for overall performance

what do you need a larger TB for? Are you running boost, or have you opened up the motor with head work and cams? b/c otherwise a 62mm tb isnt really worth the trouble. Just pick up a LD2 TB from the junk yard

i have the rsm TB and ported intake manifold, and it's like day and night. i own a 2000 z24 nothing done to engine and a 2001 with that stuff on it , yes expensive, but worth the gain in hp. i noticed bottom end gains.

I have an RSM "62mm TB" but it's only 60.83 mm in actual diameter.

It's bored and sleeved... which is probably the only way to do it... since you take out all the material around the IAC and MAP sensor unless you sleeve and then cut out the new channels. I suspect it was a 62mm bore... then the sleeve.. but I never measured the size of the sleeve. it doesn't matter.

Someone told me a LONG time ago... I can't remember who, but they usually knew what they were talking about... that you couldn't bore a stock TB to 62mm without rocking the bearings.... I still don't know what exactly that means... but whatever...

At least you can get a TB from RSM now, without buying the ported intake manifold. That was my biggest gripe with RSM. Mine's still sitting unused in the shed... seeing as I have a supercharger anyway.....

i put my stock TB back on today and i personally think (going by butt dyno) the car feels better with stock TB (trying to get back to the track to prove the butt dyno true)...so soon i'll prolly have a TB for sale...looking to get like 150 for it bought it for 210. it has maybe 3k miles on it if its lucky. it does have some dirt build up as would any TB but i'm spending time trying to make it look really pretty again lol.

Well I'm gathering the parts to build a turbo motor with a new GM crank, Eagle rods, Wiesco 8.9 cr pistons, total seal rings, 2.3 HO head & intake both ported, T3-60-1 turbo & fmic, custom header or manifold, ARP head & main studs and 2.3 oiling system. Which tb do I need to work on a 2000 Z24, the 2.4 tb or the 2.3 tb?

I had a 2.4L tb on my Quad 4 HO intake manifold... had to drill out two of the holes larger to make the bolts fit, that was it. You could use either.
