you know that metal cover on the back of the motor that covers the feul injectors, feul rail ect.. is that activly holding anything in place or can it be removed with no worries?

I was cleaning under the hood today and wondered that but I diddn't have the time to pull things apart and look for myself.

is it heavy at all? it looks like it might weigh 5lbs. isn't much but it is something. all it seems to do is collect dust and give me something else to clean

Yea, its a good bit of dead weight, but i was thinking of scuffing mine up and painting to match my valve cover
