Engine swap ?-2.2L to 2200 or Ecotec

I know somebody on the site has done this before, but I can't find the thread.

I basically want to know which swap is easier, going to the 2200 or the Ecotec?

Since both of those motors are newer, there's more of them avail. & with fewer miles on them in the JYs. Will they bolt up to my current 3 spd. auto trans. or are there issues there also?

I'm not interested in doing this for performace reasons, just seeing what's involved in doing a straight swap over.

Your profile does not say what year your car is and what motor. I assume you have 97 2.2? If so the easest swap for you would be a 2200, and yes it will bolt to your 3 speed auto tranny. I know where you can get a 98 2200 with 67k mile and 3 speed tranny, axles, wiring everything you need. If interested email me.

Actually, its a 96 2.2 - I mistyped when I was setting up my login name. What years was the 2200 used besides 98? Oh, where is this '98 2200 you mentioned located at?

Am I going to have to switch out the computer & a bunch of electrical components (sensors, etc) to make it work?

If you want an engine with less miles on it. 2002 is the last year that engine was in production. 2003 and beyond they all used the ecotec's
