i dont get it

my car trapped faster stock then it did with everything i have done and only reason my ET's went down is bc i learned to launch better.........i hate to say it but i'm starting to think its not worth playing around wiht my j-body anymore. i dont have money for FI so it seems to be pointless. might as well try and put this back to stock as best i can. any opinions would help

well lets compare you 1st and last slips in your pro

R/T ... .413
60' ... 2.502
330 ... 6.809
1/8 ... 10.298
MPH ... 70.67
1000 ...
1/4 ... 15.818
MPH ... 88.97

R/T ... .281
60' ... 2.24
330 ... 6.39
1/8 ... 9.85
MPH ... 70.97
1000 ... 12.81
1/4 ... 15.33
MPH ... 88.57

the major thing i see that would make such a difference is your 60 foot. its .3 second difference

there is nothing wrong with your car. you just learned to launch better. that is all

Yeah,
You're doing everything correctly.

Speed wise, FI is nice.
But if you still wanted N/A next biggest thing is cam work. You have all the other engine/exhaust components covered.
Maybe lightened flywheel and that kinda jazz.

As for track day, now its all about the weight.
Loose wieght on the car (including the heavy Flowmaster muffler but I'm sure it sounds cool), change/adjust the tires, and keep your launches straight, you'll see better times.

Of course the icing for all of that is a FMU like, HP tuners, Greeddy, Megasquirt, etc.
But for a lot of us that is THEE biggest obsticle of obtaining let alone getting a chance to tune anything.

But you'll work it out.
Have fun,

You've knocked nearly a half second off your ET, mostly attributed to the better launch. Keep working on your lauch technique, you'll get better.

I also noticed you first run was in Oct, while you latest run was in May. I bet it was quite a bit warmer this last time. This will cut down on the power you make.

Like stated above, shed some weight. Before you do you runs, remove the spare, jack, back seat and go with less than a quater tank of gas. If you've got subs and amp pull them out too, they usually weigh quite a bit.

Find the right balance of traction and rolling resistance. Air down you fronts for more tractuon off the line, with street tires this is usually between 25 and 28 psi. To reduce rolling resistance, air your rears up to within a couple psi of their max pressure, listed on the side walls.

What size wheels are you running? The big 17"+ wheels will slow you down, with all that unsprung weight and heavy moment of inertia. The shorter sidewalls of those types of tires have less fex to absorb the shock of launching, not that street tires have alot of flex in that area anyways.

As for the lightweight flywheel, master lauching with a stock weight flywheel first. The light weight flywheels are more rpm sensitive, so if you don't get it right you'll bog or spin more easily, making your run slower.

A side note for you, if you get the ETs down the trap seed will get higher. In racing it's not the trap speed that wins races, so much, as it is the ET (and RTs, when you get to that level).

Hope this helps. If your not already doing these, give them a try, I bet they help.

i was lookin over my time slips last night and realized how hot it was that day. the track temp got up to 103* and 87% humidity....if i catch it on a cooler night i can prolly drop a couple tenths off my time.

as for condition of the car that day at the track....only thing left in the car was dash, driver seat and door panels. (didnt have have the right torque for the dash at the time or my 1/4'' drive ratchet)

Tire pressure was set at 25psi in front and 35 in rear. i have some of the worst tires on my car but i still managed a best 60ft time of 2.19 but dont have that timeslip posted bc i missed 2nd and 3rd.

it seems like the other n/a eco's that have equal or less work done then my car stll out perform my car...

That's just it. You learned how to launch better. A good run lets say is 13.9 @101mph. But, you can also hit 14.7@103mph. How.... High trap speed generally shows that you were spinning your tires. Since you've learned how to launch the car better, your trap speed has gone down, because you're not spinning off the line, or not spinning as much. It's nothing wrong, it's actually a good sign.
