problem with obx header

hey guys,

I have a 97 gt 2.4 I recently redid my entire exhaust from dual to single from header back with 2.25, my problem is I installed the obx header and its AWFUL close to my firewall and prevents me from getting a good snug fit when I bolt it up the downpipe and the exhaust leaks! at the top of it, I have in my hands some stuff called pyro putty (its a metal putty that withstands 3000 degrees F, so I decided to put some on yes it worked but 1 problem I am unable to seal up the leak properly.. so I have decided to go a different route.. Im wondering if anyone has an issue with the downpipe connection, and how did you fix it? I dont want to weld the downpipe to the header due to the fact the engine will flex it and perhaps bend pipes and such.. but im running out of ideas.. or should I go a different brand.. and yes I have upper and lower mounts installed if that makes any difference..

Im just puzzled why it sits so damn close to the firewall to prevent a good connection.. its likes 1/2 to 1 inch away

my only other idea is to cut off behind the downpipe unbolt the header drop it down and weld up the downpipe to the header.. but I know its not the greatest idea due to the engine flex, even though there is VERY minimal flex...

any ideas or help would be awesome

thanks in advance

the putty wont work because it has to flex

why dont you try droping the header , getting the joint tight then reinstall the header to the head

since that header is a copy of pacesetters(made by child labor overseas) but anyway , ive got the pacesetter on my cav , and that whole area is tight more so if you got a auto , but i was able to get mine tight , and havent had any problems

obx might be a copy of rk's header also

but the same suggestion applies
