cat back worth it?

I was thinking about gettin a local shop to do a compression bent exhaust for me ( mendral isn't avaliable) i was gonna put a magnaflow 12216 on it which is a 2.5 in and out center and center muffler 5x8x14 with a cherry bomb resinator. but i guess my questions are this.

1) will i see n e gains at all without swapping the stock cat and header

2) will teh cherry bomb make it sound to raspy or will it cheer up some of the sound that would come without a resonator if n e one has ne ideas or a sound clip of what this may sound like it would be great.

this is all going a 2200, 2000 sunfire

thanks for ur guy's help!

Chris

You'll see a small gain. I would have the shop bend you 2.25 inch pipes though. 2.5 inch is just too big unless you plan on boosting. Your best bet would be to do the whole exhaust at once including changing the header/cat. You'll notice the best gain with doing it all at once.

I bought most of my parts through the group purchase. Keep checking there to find good deals.

from what i have been reading on a N/A engine you probably wont even notice a difference. and i can't see my self boosting. is this correct?

I sure noticed a difference. Then again, I did my whole exhaust at once.

you will see a diff. it wont be anything too major, but you'll feel it.

sorry about that i know u can feel a dif in performance when u get a new exhaust i meant that u wouldn't notice a difference between mandrel and compression bent exhaust on an N/A

sorry bout the mix up =D

sorry to sidetrack just a drop, but will this gain be even more pronounced when the car already has a short ram intake dropped in as well?

yes i believe so, anything you can do to help the engine get more air more efficiently will give you more power

hey i was at my shop today starting to order my parts i am gonna need, in n e case tho when i mentioned the magnaflow muffler i wanted the guy who was doin the order was like why not go with a cherry bomb turbo its cheaper and to tell you the truth i didnt know enough about cherry bomb other than their glass packs are super raspy however with anotehr muffler sound good . in ne case i said i would think about it and havent placed the order yet, how would this compare sound wise & performance wise to the magnaflow? i hear the cherry bomb turbos are very free flowing in n e case wanna know what you guys think.

thanks again

ahhhhh. its all cool
maybe a single hp. maybe 2.. i mean if youre really sensative and you testdrive a car with compression and then an identical one with mandrel, you may notice a tiny bit of a difference, but our cars aren't making all that much exhaust gas to notice an increadibly large difference. so id say you would feel maybe a slight difference. the only real difference is that compression creates some more turbulance, but like i said, not so much where itll show a huge diff.

i have a 2.5" catback NA and have had gains from it.
I will say if you have have mandrel bend then 2.25" in you are getting compression bent then 2.5" is fine.
