disconnect your intake and let the whole thing stand open. also see if you can find a way to keep the tb open(assuming you are in an enviorment with no flying dust or dbris in wind or anything like that) and just let it dry out. then disconncet the spark plugs and try turning the motor over a few times. then hook the spark plugs back up and see if it will fire. if you have actually broken something when you fire it back up when everything is dry either the engine will run really rough or it won't run at all. if the puddle was that big be on the lookout for electrical problems also.

forget the whole letting it dry out thing. take out the spark plugs and crank it over a few times imediately. Water should squirt out of each cylinder. Crank it for 10 seconds, let it sit for 20, repeat a few times. get the remaing water in the 2.3 manifold with a shop vac. Put the plugs back in and crank it over.

agree'd, dont let it sit around unless you like seized engines! get the water out and try to get it running again ASAP. when you turn it over to ge the water out, have the plugs out, throttle wide open, and fuelpump relay out so its not pumping fuel in. (that or unplug the injectors)

I still dont understand how you can hydrolock an engine (well i know how, but jeebus)

i've been in some pretty nasty situations, i've run large hoodscoops in rain/snow, i've been puddle jumping etc.. and never once hurt an engine.... either you have really @!#$ty luck, or dumb as nails, or just not paying attention.
