Nology Hotwires & MSD Coil pacs review..
Tuesday, June 20, 2006 7:44 PM
I finally threw these guys on my car tonight along with the MSD Coil pacs... All i have to say is wowza... Car idles like a swiss watch now and even with both motor mounts, i have Zero vibrations now.. .. On my autometer tach, the needle use to shake like a mother between 650-800rpms while in idle. In the fall i had replaced my wires and plugs to brand new ac delco's and Accell wires and i thought the car was running great then. When i rev the engine the transistion is very smooth and i think its quicker than before. According to my tach atleast. That needle just seems to fly now. So over all i guess it was money spent well, but we'll see....

upgrading ignition systems can make a world of difference. Used to run old inline 6 engines (like the mopar slantsix's chevy inline six's etc) and the most i picked up was .8 in the 1/4 mile going from new stock stuff to all MSD (or equivalent) stuff.! not saying you'd see much if any of a difference on these cars, but in the old clunckers it made a world of difference!

I'm in the process of upgrading a 2.4L to MSD coils/wires to see what kind of a difference i can get there, should make some saying the coils arnt getting heatsoaked from the engine if they're remote mounted. who knows can only try lol..

Oh man, i did Nology's hot wires, MSD coil packs and some NGK Iridiums and it made a HUGE difference, especially since it was all under a total of $300.

Are the MSD coil packs a direct replacement for the 2.2? Some tool at shucks told me that they will burn up the module(he also told me that roller rocker on a sbc are pointless, oem is much better).

Turbo Tech Racing, AKA Aaron, has the coil packs for $95 and the hot wires for $170, and i think the spark plugs were like $6 each at Advanced. Ofcourse im talking about for my 2200, but here's a link to that stuff from Turbotech. So i guess with shipping it was somewhat over $300 but still a steal for the upgrade. LOL that and my sound system ended up frying my alternator the next day. But im not really sure if the ignition stuff affects the alternator, I just like telling dumb car people that my stuff is so good it did that LOL.

Ohk well if your running a 95-97 2.2 you need the adaptor modules found here to run the coil packs. I have the 98-02 2200 engine so I dont need those till i get a DIS-2 If i so choose. But those are still only another $60. I was also very lucky that MSD is red and goes along with my color scheme!

I got the Nology wires and Coil pacs from summit. The wires were $159 and coil pacs were $41 a piece. There was a rebate on them when i purchsed them. Not to low ball turbo tech, but summit was quite a bit cheaper. Free shipping but a 9 dollar handeling charge which is basically shipping in a nut shell..
