Hello Engine Gurus
I, your faithful servant, need your guidance.
I wish to remove 2 things from my engine for various reasons...
The first is the rubber "nipple" that sticks out of the front of the bracket that holds the ECM (the one that shares one bolt with the strut tower brace on the passenger side) Can I pull this rubber part out for a few minutes without hurting anything?
The second is the ugly green end cap that is located kind of above the power steering reservoir (I think it may be part of the fuel system?) The green part threads on and points toward the driver. Can I unscrew this long enough to paint it or will it de-pressurize something?
2003 Cavalier Ecotec by the way.
Any help greatly appreciated as usual. I may seem kind of paranoid but I am not a mechanic and don't want to just start grabbing things and pulling them out in a reckless manner.
Thanks!
Steve
-The rubeer nipple? Got a picture by chance? if your refering to the little rubber triangle thing on the bracket then go ahead and remove it.
-The green cap is for the EVAP system. It's color is mandated by EPA and ASE standards. Shouldn't hurt it to remove it since I think there's a schader behind it.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Thanks Hypsy
I'll pull the nipple (hehe)
but I may wait for ONE more thumbs-up before removing the green thing. Just in case.
As stated the green cap is for Evap you can remove it and paint it you will be fine.
