O2 sensor

i have a 01 Z-24 and i just put a pacesetter 4-1 header and a high flow cat with 2.5 tubing. the first o2 sensor on the header tripped the dummy light and now my car is idling high. there are o2 sensor eliminators but they are for the secondary o2 sensor not the primary. what can i do to get rid of this problem so the car runs correct.

Get a new O2 sensor.

that doesn't always work ^^^

Sometimes it's the header that causes the problem.

I believe Eric knows the fix for it, it involves shortening the o2 sensor bung down a bit and cleaning it up in order to push the o2 sensor further into the exhaust stream

You are correct, but what he explained sounds like a O2 sensor issue, not a cold start issue. Trust me I know all about that.

getting a new 02 sensor would be a waste of my time. should i shorten the bung up? it starts ok but idles high and runs @!#$ty when its cold, the air/fuel must be all wrong. any help would be great. thanks

why woud getting a new o2 be a waste of time ????

o2 sensors are easily damaged , also if you touched the tip it is possible for your body oil from your hand to ruin it , also they dont last for ever

might seam like a stupid question , but did you plug it back in ? or did it come undone ?

you might wanna try cutting the bung down and see if that helps after your sure the o2 sensor isnt bad

I had to extend my O2 harness for my Pacesetter header install on my 2200. Not sure if that has to be done on the 2.4 If it does have to be done the did you extend the wiring harness yourself or get a harness extender? If you did it yourself you may have mixed up the wires. Casper electronics does make an O2 harness extender which makes the relocation of the sensor easier.

yeah I got a new O2 sensor and it threw the code again, so now I have to shorten the bung.
