You could put a 502 in a cav if you wanted too but it just depends on the mods you're willing to go through. And yes it'll work if you transfer the 3.5 harness to the cav along with the mounts and all that good stuff. Save your money and go with an ecotec swap or 2.4 though you'll be pleased

Noone has done it, so noone can give you a good answer on this, or tell you HOW MUCH fabing there would have to be done. Is it possible, sure it is, but if you are asking if it is possible, you probably shouldnt be doing it.

The thing is i dont want to have to do alot of modification and work to put an engine in the like 3.8. the 3.4 fits just fine with out cutting and all. I dont have time to cut and fab nor the extra money. ya get what i mean? I kno any engine can fit in the cav.

If you don't want spend a lot of money or a lot of time cutting then this probably isn't the kind of project you're looking for

Not sure who told you that you have to cut something to make a 3.8 fit but they were wrong. I didn't have to cut anything to put mine in, plenty of room. Sure a new sub-frame and mounts are needed but no cutting to the existing car at all.

I dont think the fit will be your problem as much as the wiring nightmare you'll experience making it work. The G6 has electric throttle control (Drive by Wire) for starters, while ours use a manual cable. Not only that, the whole computer/PCM/BCM modifications to make it work.

ya know..sometimes i wonder where these questions come from...i mean, we KNOW what will fit but about once a week we get a question like "will the engine from a ferrari fit in my cav ? " if your not looking at one of the engines thats not a common swap then theres probably a reason..my advice,if you want the g6 engine buy the g6

I don't know ? will a ferrari engine fit in a Cavalier ?

I am sure a 3500 and a 6 speed from a G6 will fit . In fact I am positive , it is a 60* V6 . But what it takes to make it fit and work in a Cavalier is were the research comes into play . When we ( Raven and I ) started doing our V6 swaps . We looked at everything . I had a good idea of what I needed to get for my engine to fit . I did'nt have to cut anything to make it fit in my car either . Sure I removed the original upper motor mount and installed an Alero upper mount . But that was it .

Yes the wiring would be a big nightmare . If you do decide to do the swap then invest in some good manuals . Not the crap you get from Autozone or Advance Auto . Buy a set of GM service manuals for your car and the donor car .

mounts for the 3500 should be exactly the same as the 3400. For the 6 spd... probably not even close.

If you have to ask here, then you will never get it done.

You just answered your own question then.

The answer is no. For you, the engine will not fit or work.

Ya get what I mean?

The 3500 will probably drop in there just about like the 3400 will. But you'll be forced to use the PCM and electronics from a G6. You cant use an old PCM on that motor. The 3.1/3x00's use a 7x reluctor wheel on the crank, and the new 3500/3900's use a 52x wheel.

And to be honest, I really cant see the cost effectivness involved. If you have the money for that setup, you can probably afford to pay someone else to to the fabrication for you. I'm really doubting that you'll be able to aquire the necessary "materials" such as the engine, PCM, wiring.. for cheap from the G6. You'd honestly be better off swapping an L67 if you want the same power level.
