Installed air intake and lost traction control?
Sunday, July 02, 2006 4:12 PM
I purchased a cosmo short ram air intake for my 03 cavalier and when I installed it I must have done something wrong/or accidentally hit something. My traction control light is on along with my engine light and whenever the car shifts gears it gives me a good jerk. It has an automatic transmission, does anyone have any ideas of what could have happened? Thanks in advance.

something came undone..... or a ground came loose............. how about you check every wire near where you were working...... or put the stock stuff back on and take it to the dealer.... haha..

check the IAT sensor , either you didnt plug it back in , or the wire broke just inside the plug

the wire breaking is very common

So I did forget to plug the IAT sensor in... I put the intake on Friday and I drove it around on the weekend and then put the IAT sensor back in tonight. The light is still on though and the car is still jerking... is there anyway to tell if it needs to be replaced?

One of the wires going to it broke or came un-connected somewhere. Or you broke the actual sensor on the end of it. Just inspect the wires and sensor really good, you should find something.

Unhook the battery for a while and reset the ECU. See if that does anything.

did you clear the code. I like not having the iat unplugged cause of the firm shifting. It's a free shift kit lol. but yea clear the code and see if it goes away then. Gotta love GM with there computers lol.

Is unhooking the battery and 'clearing the code' the same thing?

and thanks for the ideas, I'll try everything out in the morning.
