Building 2.4 N/A for everyday
Tuesday, July 25, 2006 11:44 PM
I am looking for options to building up my LD9.

The basics:
250 whp on a daily driven car.
Pump gass, willing to tune it on premium

Current Mods:
Engine:

* Vibrant Intake
* Custom 2.25" cat-back
* Tenzo R muffler with 4" burnt titanium tip
* fidenza short throw
* Pacesetter ceramic coated 4-1 headers
* Magnaflow high flow cat
* 2.3 HO mani swap

Getting/doing:

Secret cam swap
P&P head
Full valve train build, springs, valves, retainers, guides, locks
Rods
JBP neutralizing balancing shafts
Lighter pullies, should be here tomorrow!

The part i need help on is the compression i can run.
Can i run 11:1 pistons on these cams with pump gas?

I really dont want to go to big on the cams cause i want to drive it daily, or are there cams out there that aren't really lopy and retain some low end?

Thanks for the help, anything else you sugest?

Well hopefully he will jump in here and respond.

How hard would this to be to tune? I am hopeing the HPtuners softwear with a wideband O2 will be enough. Or will i have to go standalone with something like AEM EMS?

Thanks.

Shawn M.

P.S. I am not talking just BS, i am trying to get an idea of what this will take in order to decide between this and a turbo so i can start building the engine up.

sounds like your doing the same thing im doing. although im not going for hp, im going for low 14's all-motor. ive done a lot of research, and accordding to what i know hp tuners should be perfect for you...and if you ever go turbo instead of all motor you can use hptuners for that as well!

13.125 @ 101.01mph (from the Top Ten Honor Roll in the Racing Forum)

That was on a gutted chasis. I'm not so sure that would be an everyday car.

Thanks guys.

I would be happy with Cali Cavy's goal. Anyone know how much Karo's car makes?

Last question. Will a car with what i want done be drivable everyday? Objiously its not going to run like stock, but will it be a nightmare? I know there are more peps on the site that have/are building a NA 2.4.
