Just wondering because Im using the 92 one that came out of a grand am with the 2.3L... NYjbodies site says use the 93+ one.. I think this is the reason why my car wont stay started below 1k RPM.. I still have the 2.3 TPS and 2.3 IAC that came with it..
So what years are you using and are you using your 2.4 TPS sensor?
Thanks.

Did you make the adjustment to the idle screw?
Hell, even take a dremel and cut it so that if anything you should get a too low idle.
Suprising you're still having the trouble.

No not to this one because this 92 TB has the L shaped TPS and thats the one Mat(blownz24) is using on his S/C cavalier and his runs and idles fine.. So I said Id try that one but im having the same crappy idle... Mat is even using the 2.3 TPS and his car runs fine..
Looks like Ill have to put the other 2.3 TB on and use the 2.4 TPS.
Where do you cut it to change the idle?

There should be a tab that limits the return of the throttle plate. I do not think that you need to cut it off though. My 95 2.3 56mm worked great and my idle was the same as my 2.4 TB. I used all 2.3L sensors, besides the MAP sensor.

93, from an Achieva LD2, Stock 2.3 IAC and TPS from the TB, works fine with a T for the vaccum lines.

I have a 2.3tb but not sure from what car, but i have no problems at all with the 2.3 sensors.
Did you remember to add the extra vacume port? I know that some of the people who decided to use a t connector had problems with their idle.

I am using one off of a 1995 grand am What a pita it was. I ended up using 2 tb's cause of the rotors being different then the one on my 2200.

Well if you decide to cut it,
On the underside of the tb/tb lever, youll see an "L" shaped piece of metal, and the screw that stops it from going any further.
Its the idle screw.
Basically, if you dremel the screw flush with the tb itself, it should drop your idle way down.
And in theory give you an idle too low check engine/service light.
But as long as your rpms aren't jumping around or anything, sounds like things at least can't get any worse than a higher than normal idle.

when I did mine yesterday I ended up using the spare 2.4 tb my friend gave me to get the rotor off it. I put the rotor on the 2.3 TB and welded it back together. just did small quick beeds so it didnt get hot. used all the 2.3 sensors, tee'd off the vac lines that needed to be done stuck it on and it's working great!

Can you kind of explain the T part.. What did you T off? Do you have any pictures.. This may be my problem, I didn't 'T' anything..
Mastin, no I didn't cut that.. I dont need my idle lower, I need it higher if anything lol.
Thanks guys.

i used a 95' one of a sunfire GT, it has the same style TPS as the newer versions, same vacuum ports as the newer versions, but is 56mm.
I used the 2.3 TPS and my car was running @!#$ty so i swapped in the old 2.4 one and it ran fine.

^^ Thanks, thats what Ill need to do then.. Im going back to the 93+ TB with either the 2.3 or 2.4 TPS.. Whichever one works better..

I'm using a 98, bored out to 56 with a plate from a 2.3 tb, modified to fit the HO. Zero problems, idles great, still have cruise control.

Took a T and put in the FPR vaccum line, and the line for the HVAC, to one port that goes to the TB, ie the short arms of the T are for the two vacumm lines, and the middle goes to the TB.

^^Got it, but I have the HO mani, what would I do with the nipple on my mani that usually goes to the FPR?
btw, i switched to the 95 2.3 TB with the 2.4 TPS, letting the battery reset so we'll see if this works..

Oh, Well nevermind then.
But basically whatever vacport you don't use just cap off.
Advance has them in packs of various sizes you can get no problem.
