AFPR, good enough for a temporary tune?
Friday, August 25, 2006 2:03 AM
looking to buy a AFPR and was wondering since im running pig rich right now (14mpg, very smelly exhaust fumes at all times, 100% rich on a/f gauge) would this be able to lean me out enough to notice some power gains and some mpg, i say these 2 because if i dont notice the power gain in my seat i should by my mpg since i do not have a wideband installed yet, its in the mail. Also the accel AFPR from summit i hear fully bolts on to the 2000 2.4 fuel rail with no modifications and how exactly can i adjust the FP when i get a gauge installed on the regulator? thanks

an adjustable fuel pressure regulator is only good for tuning base idle fuel pressure, and with out some way to add fuel in boost or higher rpms, i think if you try to lean out idle to much, then your going to run out of fuel on the top end

John, remember the allen screw I told ya about? Thats how you adjust the FP from the regulator.. You'll see once you get it.. Its right on top.

when i first turn my car on from putting the gauge and regulator on the rail i should see around 40-60 psi right? the higher the richer correct? im asking this just so i know so i can lean myself out a tad and see some increases.

^^ Well not necassarily because you dont know how tight the allen screw will be on the regulater when you get it.. When I got mine, my screw was ALL the way closed, meaning little or no fuel would get through... So youll have to start your car, then adjust it from there.. I started mine all the way closed lol so it wont hurt nothing.. Yes, the hight the PSI, the richer.. Just adjust it while on the rail, car running youll see the needle change.
