Ok i hooked up the msd dis-2(6212) And it idles very badly i hear a few other people ar havng the same problem. I have msd wired and coil packs i evan checked over the wireing like a million times. Is ther n e one who knows how to fix this problem or have any ideas on what i could be?THX
Its usually a bad connection, hate to say it dude....
That or a blown coil.
Well the coils are brand new msd coils? I also have a brand new optima battery. In the msd booklet it says to connect the msd directly to the battery and i dont have it that way could that make a dif.?THats the only thing i could think of. Its such a bitch tho cuz the battry is in the trunk and i would have to run the wires all the way back there.lol Do u think that could fix it?
What did you connect the power wire to?
well now i have it to the battry and its stillm doing it! Would the grey tach wire have n e thing to do with it?
If I remember correctly event posted a long time back that some people that had this problem. If was an easy fix too. There was a poor connection between the coils and the adaptors. You could either twist the prongs slightly like this / \ or use just an extreamly small amount of solder to faten up the prong so you could get a better connection. When I had my msd on the cav I had to do the twist thing and my problems went bye bye.
Hope this helps.
Awesme man!THx i will try it than ley tou know. I did notice the prongs were a little loose. I will try and let ya know. Thanks
THx event i tried that and it still didnt work? Its all brand new items to. I pulled off the plug wires and touched the green and white trigger wires to a ground and the coils definately WORK it shot a huge bold from one tower to the other. But when i hook the trigger wires back up it still is crappy. Is there another possibility you may have???THx
I am so glad HpT came out because I've been hearing too many horror stories with DIS-II ignitions over the last 2-3years!
Nick - I hope you get everything sorted out man. All I'd know to do is go around and use a 12volt tester on every connection.

HP Tuners won't make the spark hotter like the MSD does. Sure, it can pull back the timing
I haven't heard of many problems with the MSD install... I hate to say it, but you've not followed the directions in the book properly. It's not that difficult... I suck, and I've done four of them now.
Yeah ive done everything in the book like 4 times i even tested for spark and it gets spark when i ungook the trigger wires and touch them to a graound. But when i hook em up it just doesnt wanna spark! I dont know what to do next..... The gguy i got it from spliced into the wires and i checked em all and rewired it according to the instruction manual....Nothing. So do u think if i can find another 12 pin harness without being spliced into would help?THX

agreed....
comparing hptuners and msd is like apples and dildos to some degree. one is an ignition amplifier which has a few settings, while another reprograms the computer to a higher degree.
LOL thats pretty funny stuff there/\/\/\/\. My guess is that seeing how the wires were cut and extended, somehow the guy i got it off of did it wrong. Like Lenko, in a previous post siad It is probally a bad connection. Does neone know of a place that sells the 12 pin harness??? THx
contact msd directly.... more times than nought they should be able to quickly get you a new one.
12 pin? Where are you connecting the MSD to??
You're supposed to connect it between the 3 pin connector and the coils.
Maybe that's your problem!!!

if you ever say you suck at anything to do with wiring again im going to fly to canada and c*ck slap you.

3 pin connector? The only connector with 3 wires is the map sensor plug. The one for the coils has 12 wires. Than there is one with 8. and 2 with 2. I have the DIS-2 programmable with boost retard In case you didnt know.. What 3 wires were you talkin about?
Sorry, I'm talking 3 wires on the 2.4L. It's the connector between the Ignition Control Module and the coils.
If this guy is trying to tap the signals before the ignition module on the 2200... then that's pretty obvious that's the problem... mind you... I don't know what the wiring is like on the 2200... since I don't own one
