Pacesetter flex-joint question
Sunday, September 03, 2006 8:47 PM
I installed a Pacesetter header a while back and have been having a problem with the joint between the header and the down pipe they provide. The thing leaks constantly, and if you put the car in reverse and give it any gas it just roars with a huge leak. I've tried tightening and tightening the thing, but all to no avail. It's gotten to the point where I just can't deal with the leak and ticking anymore. So I was thinking of taking out the header and getting a flex pipe welded on and then connect that to the rest of the exhaust system. My question is would this be the proper fix to the problem and also if it is, does anyone have an idea of what size flex pipe i would need to connect to the header? I believe it's a 3 inch collector, but does that mean I would need a 3 inch diameter flex pipe, or would need to be slightly bigger to fit the collector? Thanks for you help.

man mine does this too.. next time i am under the car i am thinking about taking all the weight off the exhaust system and see if i can tighten them more.. if not i am going to try to tighten it when the exhaust is hot and try that... if not i dont know what else to do... everyone told me to get the motor mounts and the issue will go away... so i may have to do that... but i dontknow bro mine does the same crap.... annoying as hell

mine is OK but the way its coupled to the exhaust system after the little adapter they give you makes it at an angle to begin with. a flex pipe after that coupler may be a wise idea. imo i think its a @!#$ design on pacesetters part, it took me a LOOOOOOOOONG @!#$ time to get that bitch bolted up there, christ there is NO clearance to get hands etc in there...

Mine does the exact same thing. And I am also to the point where I can't take it anymore. I don't even rev up my engine anymore cuz it sounds like a$$ with that leak.

It's coming out soon though and being replaced by something...... much better!
