Exhaust install how much $$
Tuesday, September 05, 2006 11:18 AM
I have a pace setter header, magnaflow cat, resonator, muffler and tip. I want a shop to install all of this, with 2.25 inch Stainless Steel tube. At the local muffler shop the manager told me it would be $600-700 for labor and parts. I have all the parts except for the tubing. I taught this was way high and left. I am thinking it should be about 3 hours of labor and $100 in materials max. I high estimate would be 6 feet of piping I need. labor at 70 and hour would be $210. Am I way off on this? What have you guys paid for you install? And where did you go? I am an hour south of boston, ma and 30 min east of providence, if anyone knows a good place in the area please let me know. Thanks!

I paid about 160 for mine with all the parts I had, but I took off my stock exhaust, and installed the header myself.

I wish I could do it myself, I do not have a pipe bender or a welder tho. I will slap the header on this weekend. 6-7 bills seemed way high. the $160 seems like a better price

You have to take in accout the work it will take to put the header on. Just to install my header and bend 3 feet of pipe was 160 ish. I paid 250 for a cat back pipeing with muffler. So yeah 600 is a little hight but also what type of bending do they do mandrel or cursh?

$90?!?! holy @!#$ thats cheap! u got a freakin deal on that one man.

i agree tho, 6-700 is ridiculous. what i can suggest is just what @!#$fire did. drop the stock exhaust yourself (id suggest like maybe the day before you go to get the new one put on), install the header yourself, and take it to the shop to get all the other work done. just make sure you take the O2 sensor outta the cat, so they can put it in the new one. or just buy a new one. either way. i would say max you should be willing to pay is like 250. MAYBE 300. if anyone at that point says anything more than that, theyre ripping you off... good luck man

If you lived in Savannah, GA my friends at ST performance would put the header and exhaust with everything you asked for 225. That is what it cost me.

i did my own header....drove to the shop with just the header on. i brought my cat, resonator, and muffler......and to get the pipes bent and welded it was $100, and took just over 2 hrs.

Yeah, I will be doing the header myself, and looking to bay under 200 for the pipe being bent and welded. It will be crush bent, not sure of any shop around here with a mandrel bender. Did anyone get a flex pipe put on after the header?

Do yourself a favor...
Install the header yourself (its not hard)
Then buy some madrel bends from summit.

Then go and have them weld it all up. It shouldn't cost more than a $100 since you'll have most of the piping you need(except for maybe the straight peice) and you'll be happy with and won't always be wishing for mandrel bent. Crush bending sucks... usually it's not too bad, but as soon as they start making bends close together to go up over the axle and stuff it starts to get ugly... kinks and restrictions blah...

Either way... Good luck!!!
