Headers
Tuesday, June 20, 2006 11:09 PM
I am picking up my RK Sport Dual catback exhaust with Magnaflow Highflow cat. I figure since I am buying the whole cat back system I might as well get some new headers. Unfortunatley I am on a tight budget and have resorted to ebay. Does anyone know about OBX headers? They look like this But I dont want to be jerked off if they arent going to perform. Can somebody give me some sug. on headers?

Before you get yelled, at header. we only have one, and even though you want to go cheap cuz your short on funds, dont. Save your money, get it done right. find a good quality header and be done with it, i reccoment pacesetter armor coated header. do it right the first time.

I would have to agree and disagree with you. OBX works just as fine as pacesetters do but I do agree with the part on saving money and doing it right. Because when it come to buying performance parts on ebay because you want to spend less or you dont have enough money will most likely ruin the ride quality (meaning performance). You dont want to stick on some crappy stuff on ebay that you got for cheap and then he'll end out with crappy output.

Remember the saying,
"you get what you pay for"

If your not supercharging a 4-2-1 header would provide more gain. And that collector looks like cheap crap.

I agree and disagree as well.

I got a OBX 4-1 for my 2.4 and it worked fine. But yeah the color faded fast. It went from polished to a bronzish color. But its said that the high heat will do that regardless. I polished them, and they look great.

This is a cheap way out but if its only for a short time, I say "You can do it"

I then borught the pacesetter 4-1(with the black coating) and threw them on. Didnt notice any difference in performance between them but it was easier to work with. The color changed from black to a "what the f&%#". Read post on here to remove the black coat. Color still looks horrible.

I then bought the pacesetter ceramic headers 4-1. No difference in performance but lighter than both (in wieght). Color changed a little but cleaned and put a high heat clear coat and dont run into the color change process again. Still easy to work with.

In my opinion- "You get what you pay for".
Rule of thumb- "Cheaper parts make a cheaper car make a piece of crap" but sometimes cheap works just as great as expensive parts. ie Ebay intakes.

The OBX worked great and I blew all that money on other headers. If I had known that it wouldnt make much difference, Id stay with the OBX header

if your on a tight budget then go with a pacesetter header with the black coating. well worth the money and not as expensive as the ceramic ones.

I'd disagree. The ceramic coating is more than worth the extra price. The OBX is a good header too though. Go with the OBX, or ceramic coated pacesetter.
