Just as the topic describes.... I put the car in reverse give it gas, apply the brake and instant death. Car just dies, it doesnt sputter, make noises, or anything just dies as if I turn off the key. So I put it in park and it starts back up no problem. It does not do this all the time it has done it a grand total of 4 times now. And I'm sure it is not supposed to do that. It started doing this after I swapped out my intake manifold with the HO mani and tb. I have a 97 Z24 Auto.

My car has two speeds, fast and faster.
Anybody have a clue as to why this might be happening?

you have a small vac leak some where check the t/b then check all the vac lines if that doesnt work take the manifold off and check it put it back on and see what happens.
that should fix the problem when i was doing the ho manifold swap mine did something similar
Well it has not done it in over 24hrs now. I have been backing up everychance I get and it has not died anymore. I doubt that it fixed itself but if it does it again I'm going to do what you said. Check for leaks again.

I have a 2001 Z24 and I've had this problem around the same amount of time as you. When I put my car in reverse the RPM sometimes jumps to under 500 and stalls. Has it ever happened to you when you stop? IE: when you park your car? It hapened to me twice.
The mechanic at my dealer (Non-GM) told me my injectors needed cleaning, I just told him he was an idiot.
Nope never done it to me when I park, only when I have put the car in reverse. Car does not stall, rpm's are in normal range. It just dies....
