Just before you hit your rev-limiter. This will let you get through your HP peek and the rpms will drop back to about your torque peek.

i shift at just about 6k so i think i have that part down but does the engine make anymore power after 6k? would i see any benefit in removeing the rev limiter?

thanks for the fast replay

Nope, stock motor peaks at about 5200-5400 rpm. Going beyond the rev limiter is just wasted revs, unless you've modded the motor internally (ported head, cam, etc....).

Yeah mine falls on its face after 6K. I don't even bother going any higher. Don't know about anyone else but it seems to me like these engines are prone to a bit of valve float around 6K anyway.

Yeah I'll have to talk to him about that one. With the way this weekend went, I have a really bad feeling there's a total rebuild in my very near future. Might jsut go ahead and do all the mods while I'm at it.
