hey guys i drive a 2001 Z24 5 speed, dont have much done to it other than a air intake, airraid throttle body spacer( which i know doesnt do much...at all) but i have recently had a new transmission put in and just put in a new crate engine. Heres the thing i need to catch up with this guy at work he drives a 99 V6 Camaro, i havent had any probems beating him before but lately he has put a roll cage, new exhaust , taken off his catylytic converter, new clutch, and he has a 50 shot of nitrous, i raced him last night and he didnt spray any nitrous. I was pulling ahead in 1st and second he was just behind my back bumper but 3rd gear he takes off and i cant catch him. I really dont know enough about these smaller engines to know what i need to add to it to get to catch up, i just want to be able to beat him again with neither of us spraying any ideas????

but why the hell is there a roll cage in a near stock v6 camaro? thats pretty embarrassing. the easiest way to "catch up" would be gm charger which is a direct bolt on to your engine or you could always put a 50 shot on yours and see where it gets you, you should have a warrenty on your crate engine so if nitrous the hell out of it and if something happens take it off.
yea i will admit the roll cage is a bit overkill he should of saved his money and put a V8 in, anyways i dont exactly have the money for a supercharger but i am planning on putting one on, im kinda wondering how i can do my exhaust and what not to get more power, any particular spark plugs that work better than the stock ones, just little stuff that will help here and there cuz i really had no problems beating him before but than again he may of just got better at shifting. But everything on my car except the airintake is stock. Maybe even having my ECM flashed and reprogrammed i really dont know what my options are.

also forgot he has a short shifter i have no idea how much that helps but like i said i have never had any problems til i raced him with his upgrades last night before then i was smoking him no problems, unless he has something more on there than he is letting on i dunno
having your computer flashed wont do you much good unless you have a supercharger or turbo.. jsut read up on what eveyone else has done. read the performace FAQ for some good tips. do some research. and have some fun. and try to keep the illegal street racing out of this website. legal only

Correct. If he did not pull you until 3 gear then he was spraying. You do not have juice and not use it. Put the juice on your car and you will walk him.

its not illegal if its on a private lot there buddy cops cant do a thing on private lots unless the owner asks them to, we use to do donuts in the parking lot in front of the store i manage and cops would come out there telling us to quit and i told them as manager of the store and lot i didnt mind and they werent able to anything about it guess i will be getting some spray thanks guys

well maybe it is BS i dunno i know when i am inside the store i would get called or they would come in and ask me if i wanted them to stop the donuts goin on outside and the same cops were the ones that caught me so maybe they just really dont care i dunno, and PJ nobody said you had to come in here and read this thread buddy if its bothering you that much dont click on it, all i am trying to figure out is if the guy is really not spraying and if me doing the same things to my car that he supposedly did to his would even it back out pinch it off dude
don't use nitrous, these little 4 cylinder engines can't handle it, you'll get a few runs before your @!#$ blows up, I've seen it happen, my buddy form work, his cusin was spraying his sunfire and tossed a rod out the block.

You may want to look up the word 'obvious'.
Besides, it doesn't bother me none. I eat V6 camaros and mustangs for breakfast.
A good indication that he IS spraying is that in 3rd he suddenly starts raping you. Make him disconnect his bottle before racing him if you don't want him to spray.
