any have or know of a cam with.3125 lobe lift for 2.2l ohv?

i've been doing research on different options i have has far as performaense. well i'm leaning towards sticking with 2.2l. anyways i'm looking into a different cam and valvetrain. i would like a total of .500 valve lift. any cams out there or is my only option a custom grind? as far as jbp, i can't make out the specs. also will the stock valve springs handle the lift?

Your best option would be a custom grind/regrind. Crane Cams, Comp Cams and ISKY Racing Cams all have lobe profiles that will match your needs.

Seeing as you have a 2200, the rocker ratio is supposed to be 1.6:1, but they actually measured out to be 1.54:1, you would want to use less lift, if using the stock rockers. Remember, the 2200's valve train can only handle up to .480" lift. I have come up with a method of theoretically fitting a higher lift cam/rocker combo, but will require some custom machine work, so you can get some springs in the head that will handle more lift. I've yet to hear of anyone doing it though. See the 2.2/2200 OHV Rocker Arm List, for more information on rocker arms for the 2.2/2200 OHV motors.

I've been in contact with a company that will most likely be releasing a series of camshafts for our motors very soon. The specs, are as of yet, unknown, but I'll be getting that information soon. I do know that they will be ground on a solid billet core and will be a much more reasonable price, than JBP's cams. I'm also looking into getting the billet cam blanks for more radical cam profiles than what will be made.

In a 96 you can go with a lot more lift. I have a 313 cam right now, with the 1.6 rockers it's up to .501"

Jack: I WANT A BILLET CORE!!!!!

sweet. exactly wat i'm looking for. i thought i read an article saying the valve springs in a 95-97 handle up .575 total lift, but couldn't find it again. josh, u plan on running a quarter mile time with ur current set up? i would love to c wat ur mods could do.

The springs bind around .575" IIRC, but you need to leave a good safety margin. I posted maximum safe lift specs for the 2.2L and 2200 in the 2200 valve spring thread, towards the bottom of the 7th page I think. Stock 2.2L springs are max of .520" I think, but they are very low pressure and probably won't control the valves with a more aggressive camshaft ramp rate. Jack and I have both taken measures to fix this
The mods in my reg have never been a single unit, and never will be (that head will be for sale shortly, I want something more aggressive). Right now I'm working on a high compression N2O motor and a big boost 2.2L/2200 hybrid motor. Hopefully one or the other will be done before spring, but nothing is set in stone.
