A little help please
Wednesday, October 04, 2006 8:27 PM
Ok so I've been focused on looks for my car for a while now and I finaly got to a point where I like to look at my car lol and lately I have been really wanting to get to work on my performance and getting pretty sick of driving my slowww 2.2 3 spd automatic : ( and I have been constantly reading in the performance forum and the FAQ's but I see so much more for the 2.4's and newer models than my car and I just can't seem to decide where to start. So I would really appreciate it if somebody could shine a little light on this to help me get started on my way to making my car faster. Thanks!

P.S. as of my financial status right now I don't see boost coming into the picture any time soon. So I'm thinking of going n/a and try to beef up my engine.

You best be saving up for a complete engine upgrade and turbo. Best to do it all at once and right the first time instead of a little money here a little money there and praying something doesnt blow

You probably have noticed there are a couple of posts that are currently dealing with the 2.2/2200s on here now. Here are a few threads that should be a good start:

2200 power record
2200 valve springs
2.2/2200 OHV Rocker Arm List
Stock Torque Converters, 3 Speed Gears and more
3 speed auto, finally done and finally installed

That's allot of reading, but there is a ton of good information in them. I would reccomend you get a used engine, do your research into what you want it to do, formulate a plan and build it as you can. Remember to build the tranny to suite the powerband of the motor. Also check out the Transmission Forum for more current information concerning the 3 sp TH125C/3T40.

I kinda wonder how many people actually go through and read all those...?
Is Scarab still putting together a build guide?
