Thinking supercharger...

Yeah, I'm a newb here but not to cars. I am really close to getting an 03 sunfire 5 speed. I was just giong to go the usual route... intake, exhaust, header, maybe a power pulley and some weight reduction, but then I keep reading about the supercharger kits and I think I may want one... I would go with the GM simply because I would get less S&!T from my dad, being that it is made by GM, and has complete instructions. After doing an engine swap in a fiero I have learned my lesson, and I am very leary of anything aftermarket that is mechanical i.e. crate engines (from ARI in Grandview MO, DO NOT BUT ANYTHING FROM THEM!!! ) etc. Things like headers and exhaust not as much... anyways I probably wouldn't intercool it, and my question is, is that ok? I know its intercooler capable, but I am looking at just having the supercharger and leaving it be. Since GM sells it like that I assume it is ok, just looking for opinions... at $5000 for the car and $2500 for the SC that gives me a 200hp ~2600 lb car for $7500 that is realy tough to beat compared to buying anything else out there Again any info would be greatly appricieated... thanks and a good day to you...

Prepare to be flamed for not putting this in the boost forum...but you probably will want to intercool it just for the fact that it'll keep the engine cooler, and thats better for the engine. Plus theres no reason to spend the $2500 for the supercharger and then cheap out and not spend the extra (estimating) $1000 for the intercooling setup, and you get extra ponies.

Intercooling isn't $1000, I'd say I spent ~$500 doing it. That's just a quick guess.

i dont think the gm supercharger kit is intercoolerable. Its a roots style charger that replaces the intake manifold and there is no charge pipe to the manifold itself.

^^^ U are wrong..the eco supercharger is intercoolable..it has the pipes built into the intake you just have to get the pump and all that jazz....read in the boost forum..phil

So should I repost this in the boost forum so maybe I'll get a few more responses? or can a moderator move it or something?
