Weird Swap Question...
Thursday, October 05, 2006 9:11 PM
ok my friend has a 97z24... well about 2 months ago it took a crap on him and slung a rod through the oil pan... so hes been looking for a 2.4 to mount in. only problem is around here there isnt an abundance and a 2.4 liter alone run 500-700 with 120,000 + on em. so we were talkin tonight about putting a 2.2 or 2200 in it. just to get it back up and running.

you can find a 2200 around here for around 300 with 50-75,000 miles on it and a manual tranny for 250, right now his is a automatic. so how hard would it be to put a 2.2 in a 2.4 car. sorry i know its weird but just wanting to know a few answers...

Thanks

As said the same as going from 2.2 to 2.4. You need the motor tranny, and wiring ahrness and ECU. You would also need the part of the fuel line that runs from the fuel rail (supply, and return) to the hard line at thebottem of the fire wall. Also the auto tranny mount would have to be cut out and manual mounts welded in. I know some guys with 2 2200 with tranny's, axles, wiring ECU's. Everything needed for this swap.
