im attempting a pacesetter install on my 02 2200 which has 58k miles on it . i ordered studs, nuts, and a new gasket from GM, just in case.
does anyone have issues breaking manifold studs/nuts? should i have even bothered paying for these? or should i just spray it with some rust bust, clean off the surface of the cylinder head with some brake/carb cleaner, and install a new GM metal gasket?
im just tryin to figger the best way to do the job since ive got so many people who have done this already at my disposal..
thanks to those who have read!!

You waste money for the one you won't replace. You'll strip the head before braking a stud.

yeah, no need to order new studs.. Just dont go crazy with the tightening.

the studs should all be good , just the nuts will need replacing , if you can put them back on by hand
the nuts are crimped nuts , for self locking , and if you can put them all the way on with your fingers then they need to be replaced
if you live in a area with road salt in winter then , use PB rust buster on all bolts and nuts , and start several days before you plan on doing the install , spray them cold and spray them warm
i already ordered them, i cant risk being out of a car on monday, so i figgerd id spend the 20 bucks and take the 15 percent hit if i didnt need them.
but thanks for all the info guys...ive got rust buster already, ill spray when i get home today, im starting the project saturday morning.
