wel i got a buddy who has a 2.3 ranger and he has a small t3 48 trim which he fabricated to his intake to just hear it spool. well we zip tied it down and went for a ride and it actually is faster and it chirps the tires into 2nd and 3rd which when we take the turbo off it wont even chirp the tires. just a fun lil "ricer" mod but it was amussing at first jsut to rev it and hear it spool and the looks we got

So... Adding a restriction in the intake gained you power?

COOL! I'm going to go jam a bunch of tin-foil in my airbox! I'll gain like, 25 WHP!

i dunno whyy it did anything but it doesnt restrict any airflow at all and it does chirps tires in 2 gears that it wont when the turbo is off. just thought i would post cuz i thought it was lame and he was full of sh*t but i drove the truck with and without it and there is a diff nothing huge, so dont think im trying to tell u that there is an amazing power increase cuz theres not but its noticable

Could be it just swirls the incoming air which would give you more air flow into the cylinders but I'd imagine the suction pressure to outweigh any swirling benefit but whatever.

So, I went ahead and tried it... Couldn't get ANY gains from a 97 F150, 94 GTP, 97 Saab 900... So I'm going with that being a crock of @!#$.

Good job blowing the turbo though! Hope it wasn't expensive.

hey everyone, lets all get oil lubricated bearing turbos and zip tie them to out intakes!!! Then lets wonder why they burned out.

Actually, damn, if I get a turbo, attach it to the intake of the turbo I already have, I'll just double my power. Hmmm....better use yellow zip ties for that....

to bad the turbo wouldn't spin at all. nor do i think zip ties would hold the weight of a turbo..

I have a Potato Racing Chip, custom made and plugs right into the cigg lighter. Dyno shows 25-50+ HP. Not bad for $2.00

ya i was thinking that to....but it sounded like a funny thing to try.......and no lube to bearings......it would last 10 minutes..haha

Re: turbo on intake
Tuesday, November 28, 2006 5:56 PM
actaully it would last just fine, the turbo won't spin so no need to worry about lube..

maybe he used one of those electric boat bilge pumps? or ran it with the turbo on the intake, but no filter? that might have less restriction than a dirty paper filter. maybe?

first of all it dont give ne power and yea it does spool as u can hear it loud and clear from 500 ft away. and wut we did was put the intake hose over where the filter would go and clamped it down and we zip tied it to part of his stock intake it was sitting on and against it wasnt hangin by zip ties. as for lube he put a bolt in one side and filled it with hydrolic fluid and then another bolt to close it off so it had some lube. and yea he did destroy the bearings anyways. this thread wasnt made to say it is a mod to do or that it gives power gains just more of a bordom thing and 2 see if we could get the spool sound. which we did get the sound and as far as anyone knew that we drove by or let hear thought it was turboed. i dont want to make this a bullsh*t thread. so please stop all the negative comments
