Just had a major set back here. I have a 2003 saturn ION and i just put a new forged engine (2.2 ecotec) in about 8 months ago and the damn thing detonated in one cylinder. I haven't seen the full damage yet but a mechanic where I live (germany) told me the whole engine needed to be replaced, which is $8000 dollars over here : (
So the questions is, if there is no hole in the cylinder, could i take it to a machine shop to overbore and put larger pistons in?? I would like to save the enigine if possible to save money and keep the project goping. ANy other ideas???

i think if the block is ok and the head is ok then go ahead with the larger pistons anyway
