Guys,
I am new to this forum.. Haven't messed with ecotecs yet either. I am looking to run an ecotech in a fiberglass mid travel manx dunebuggy.. I am not new to Turbo's or nitrous.. So here is my question: If you were looking to get a minimum of 300 hp but would like to be in the 425 hp range how would YOU do it.. Keeping in mind that I am willing to run race fuel 100% of the time.. I am fine with going turbo or going supercharged but I am looking for something that isn't going to require hours and hours of tuning.. I was wanting to go with a GMPP crate motor for starters but that is also negoitable.. I am willing to go both forced air and nitrous if I can get in the neighborhood without it..
Is there any companys other than turnkey performance making a turnkey package or is there anyone who sells a forced air kit with the tuning issues handled? The current power plant for this buggy is a fuel injected turbo 2332 VW motor putting out 275 hp. I am looking for something a little less prone to disaster however.
I know it's going to cost some bucks but I want to try and keep it resonable and if I get in this neighbor hood -

Then I might as well buy theirs..
Thanks for any help!
Ok, starting off if you wanting an engine that does not have hours and hours of tunning then you have the wrong engine. If your wanting 400+hp at a reasonable price you have the wrong engine. If your wanting something along the lines of what your looking for go get a Honda B16 engine. You sound smart enough to easily get that kind of power out of it.
In the planning stage for an all American TRD Cavalier.
Thanks for your input, but really want to keep it GM..
Even if it means spending a few more bucks..
I just stumbled accross this company, ever heard of them?
Someone posted not too long about about the posibility of putting that set up in a J. You have the right engine, but trippleing the out put of any motor is going to require some pretty extensive tunning. I think for you its more of a question of your willingness to do the work your self or buy the kit, which then you are paying for someone else to do the work.

I guess what I am looking for is a kit that has a "close" tune.. I am not a stranger to tunning a turbo motor, however when it comes to a buggy 90% of the tunning will have to be on a dyno... So then you have to start weighing the expense and time spent vs buying a turnkey set up... I am curious what they are using for guts on the turnkey.. As far as I understand stock is good for up to 250hp is that true?
well, if you want some advice for running and eco in a dunebuggy. find someone that has and ask what all they did.
people here have hit over 300 hp with the 2.2 eco, but it was a built motor with hours of tuning

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I got an email not too long ago from a guy with an Eco powered dune buggy. I'll get you his email and you can talk to him about it. He seemed to have a blast with it and has more than enough power. Can't wait till I can get my ass out to see it....he said I could drive it too :-)

Why not just a small block, Holley Systemax heads, cam, intake, Accel TBI, BAM! 450 RELIABLE hp with almost the same dimensions as that monster turbo ecoTEC.

Almost same dimensions true, but a lot more weight, in a very light car
A SBC is NO WHERE NEAR the same size as a Ecotec. Take your head out of your ass before you post next time.
