Whats a good price to pay for a HO manifold?
I paid $60 Canadian for my 'LO' from a junk yard...work in progress
I've seen them go any where from 50-75$
SPD RCR Z -
'02 Z24 420whp
SLO GOAT -
'04 GTO 305whp
W41 BOI -
'78 Buick Opel Isuzu W41 Swap
they are $20-$30 at my junk yard. I think i paid $40-$50 for the mani and T/B.

$100.00 The reason why is because they are rare. 9 out of 10 people who have a HO intake or are selling one actaully have a LO intake. They look exactly alike unless you see them side by side or stick your fingers between the runners of both. I know this because I have both. See the picture in this thread here.

If you are only going for the look or if your engine is close to stock then a LO will work fine. I doubt you would see a hp gain from a going with a HO instead of LO. If you are getting it for a turbo setup the HO would probably be better. As far as I know there are no real dyno HP #s to prove any of this. You could be the first.
Are you are pulling it yourself from a junkyard? If not you would expect to pay someone else at least a little for finding it and then taking their time to remove it right.
If you do buy one you will want one of these.

Although I don't doubt that there are some who think they have a HO manifold when they indeed have a LO, I think your 90% statistic is a bit high. I could go on for a while naming people who think they have a HO manifold and actually do (including myself). What you said is correct, but I find the easiest way to tell whether or not it is a HO is by looking at it straight on (can't be done with it on the car though). The HO plenum does not shrink much past the throttle body whereas the LO shrinks considerably. But yeah, the runners on a HO are larger as well.
I bought mine from someone off Ebay for $40-60 a couple years ago.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
The picture in the first link was meant to show the difference between the plenum sizes.

I know i have an HO intake as well. Looks just like the ones from the install guides, and the motor said HO on it. Either way, i agree with what was said above. For most people the difference doesn't matter.
