what are your plans for the car? do research, look up the ld9 and the ecotec motor, see the parts available and pick one. theres no wrong answer. people are getting great numbers from both engines.

I tried searching but couldn't find anything... does any have info on the 2.4 VVT Ecotec in to a J-body?

You are going to recieve 2 possible answers from this question, so I will say them for you...

1. As far as we know, no one has done this yet since it comes in the cobalt which happens to be 'drive by wire' and I believe requires the cobalt transmission which doesn't fit in a J-body without serious body alterations.

2. 170 hp isn't worth the effort involved in making the motor fit. A H.O. quad 4 has 180+ stock and requires no physical modification to fit in a J-body, or you can build an L61 ECO to be stronger and faster as well.

The same arguments can be made against the LSJ.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
