So um notice any sensors that are missing a wire from your intake?

Had to change sig because some dickhead is mad it went 1 letter over size

Looks like it goes somewhere on the back side of the intake manifold

MAP and TPS sensors are three wires. That looks like the IAT sensor connection. Or the washer fluid motor.

What color wires are in it?

lenko: purple and yellow wires, blue plug. it fits into the crank sensor plug-in, so i put it there and the OTHER blue plug with yellow and purple wires i swung around to the back of the tranny and the vss. does this sound right? the engine still wont crank!

dirtbag: i took my whole engine/tranny out to replace the transmission. this was pretty much the only thing left to put back, but i was having a helluva time finding where it went cause i had the OTHER purple/yellow plug for the crank sensor, since the only diagram i could find just said the crank sensor had those colored wires.

IAT, temp sensor, and crank all have that kind of plug.

Did you install the starter? Check your grounds as well.

make sure you ground that relay sitting in that pic........ thats the recall for the starter..... if thats not grounded (black wire) it wont crank.

Also..... how long is the loom on that plug you cant seem to figure out where it goes? From where its sitting, its got to be the CPS.

make sure you check all your fuses, might have poped the starter fuse on accident.

Thats the 2 wire brown/yellow crank position sensor. It's right next to your oil filter.

Pay attention ^^^^^^^^^^

no matter where that goes (kinda guessing CPS myself) .......
IT WON"T STOP THE CAR FROM CRANKING

Something is wrong with your starter system.

ive checked the starter and power/ground wires and they are all connected. it was suggested to me that if the transmission linkage wasnt connected correctly (and therefore not in P) that the car wouldnt crank. do you think this could be it?

READ THE ABOVE STATEMENTS

it is possible for the neutral safety switch to not be right , IF THE CAR IS A AUTO

also if that plug only pulls to there then its the crank posistion wire , if the wires plugged into the crank sensor now are seam to be to long then they are the VSS wires which runs under the pan and loops around to the vss on the passenger side of the trans , near the axle , NOTE THIS IS FOR A AUTO TRANS

still sounds like either a fuse is blown, the starter relay isnt grounded, or I guess if its an automatic the P/N switch isnt in Park or Neutral.

speedracer: yeah its an auto. im checking the tranny linkage tomorrow. ive checked the ground wires and everything is grounded. ill also check the fuses too. is there any way to tell for sure what gear the tranny is in? when i turn the key on, the gauge cluster lights up and says its in P and i can run the shifter down all the way to 1 and back up w/o any problems or catches.

97trd: its and auto and yeah i already switched the wire into the crank and the other wire to the bottom of the tranny

thanks for the help here guys.....

watch the lever on the trans , and when it goes into park pull the end off and twist the lever in the same direction , if it doesnt twist anymore then its ok

the next i do is grab a test light and check the purple witre going into the relay that is hanging in that picture

also there is a wire on that relay that goes to the main power on the starter , 1 that goes to the small terminal on the starter and 1 that goes to ground , check those 3 wires , if your still not getting it to turn over

ok ive ripped the mani off again and here are the pics of the starter. according to my haynes this is how they should be. is that right?

also, the linkage seems to be right for the tranny, as N on the cluster allows it to coast/be pushed. any other ideas here? sorry to keep bein a PITA but i need to get this thing runnin soon
