AFPR vs SAFC-2/ E-manage.

For a N/A build what would be better to use? An AFPR or a piggy back system like SAFC-2 or E-manage?

Well the first thing to do is learn that a AFPR and a piggyback fuel system do completely different things.

AFPR: Adjusts your fuel pressure
Emanage: Controls the injectors and the amount of fuel they put out.

Yeah I knew that but I have been reading up on both and it seems to me that alot of people think that a AFPR is worthless for a NA setup. But I have read that others think that AFPR is totaly worth getting for an NA setup. While some say a piggyback fuel system is the better way to go because your controling your injectors instead of controling the fuel pressure I guess going to the injectors through a AFPR. So even after reading everything I think you can all tell I'm still a bit lost in the dark as to which way to go. I mostly understand what both do, just don't know what either can do for my NA setup on my 2.4.

There are two way's to get more fuel through an injector.

1. Increase the fuel pressure
2. Increase injector pulsewidth

I have no experience with e-manage, I do know it is a piggyback fuel management system that works really well on imports, but I have no experience with it on domestic vehicles, or more specifically, j-body's. I have heard it wasnt working very well for other members, but that was hearsay, and like I said, no direct experience. Now to say that a afpr is worthless on an N/A setup is kinda silly, every system has its place. Depends on how serious your build is going to be. If it is serious enough that you will have a powerband that exceeds the factory rpm limiter, you will need something more than any piggyback, as they wont adjust rev-limiter. Your best bet is if your car is 97 or later, is a great tuning program that has been released to us. It is basically a standalone that works through your factory ECU. Search more about it, as it is a well discussed topic in these forums.

I'm sure Josh is plenty aware of the existence of HPTuners.

You can look at everything I have done to make NA power. I don't use anything more to tune than a AFPR, but if you want the most out of any build (NA or FI), anything to adjust pulsewidth is always going to be the better choice for fuel delivery.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.

Oh yeah I know about HPT, but I don't feel my build is going to be how do I put it.. Wild enough to really need HPT, then again I have heard of HPT doing wonders on stock vehicles. I'm just not smart enough... Let me rephrase that I don't have the know how to properly tune a car. Unless HPT comes with a How to Use for Dummies I would be totaly lost. And there is knobody remotly close to my town that knows what they are doing to help me to tune with HPT. That is why I have been looking at other ways of tuning my 2.4. Right now I barely have any mods done but I will have a rebuilt engine within the next year. With pretty much the same ideas everybody else has, 086 head, secret cams, ect ect... So maybe after that I will need HPT Pro, since I have the auto and I hear that HPT Pro can do wonders for the auto tranny. Just man... $600 is alot of money since I'm not going to go boosted, forged internals and maybe nitrous.

My personal preference or theory, is that tuning is where your money should be put at. I am doing a B16 honda in a delsol right now. As soon as the client told me he wanted to turbo his 'Sol, the first thing I asked is if he was willing to spend 600 dollars on Hondata, because I refuse to hack a tune. GOOD tuning wont only yield more power, you will have a smoother, more stock like running engine, and greatly improves the reliability of the car. Bad tuning will kill a car a lot faster than most things. That is my 2 cents. But, you are only going for secret cams, so I dont think tuning will be TOO far off, you could get by wiht just a AFPR.
