I've been reading the posts on exhaust piping and I'm a little confused. The only mods I've done include AEM cold air and floamaster muffler. I am going to get prices for 2.25" piping (if that is optimal size?). I am also going to get a longer resonator (20"-22" long, 4" round). Two questions: Should I change the cat, or leave it stock? I've heard it drastically changes the low tone of the car to a buzzz. Second, where should i start the piping? From the cat or from the header? I have a low tone and would like to keep it. Thanks.

I wouldn't touch the cat. I haven't installed my dual Magnaflows on the Cavi yet but when I hollowed out the converter on my Camaro, it completely changed the sound. The sound did lose that low tone and sounded much more raspy and crackley. I'm on vacation the first week in Feb and will install the Magnaflow system. I'll try to post a link with a sound clip. I'm not going to change or hollow out the cat on this one. Cat-back only.

If you're going to do just the piping and keep the muffler, start at the cat. That's the first real restriction in the system as from what I've read, the stock Eco manifold flows just fine unless you start changing engine internals. I know Borla makes high flow cats but they're up there in price. I don't think it's worth it for just a CAI and muffler. I'm not doing it even when the TB and CAI go on.

i change my cat. my car sounds nice.
but anything you do to the ehaust is going to change the tone/sound

I'm debating on the resonator. I have a feeling it is going to be hit or miss. Im looking at the Hushpower II and the Purple Hornies. Anyone have a suggestion? or should I buy both?
