2.2 Ecotec Supercharger?
Tuesday, January 02, 2007 6:54 PM
Hey guys, this one is driving me crazy, so I'm looking for a we-bit of help.

I work for a Chevy dealership, and I was talking to the guys in Parts about the supercharger kit for my 05 Cavy, and they can't find it on their system. They had the supercharger kit for the 00-02 2.4L on their system, but nothing at all for the 03-05 Cavy's or any supercharger listed for the 2.2 Ecotec. He knows the Cobalt SS/SC has the supercharger, but that Cobalt is a 2.0 so not sure its the same one. My question is, I know that GM Supercharger kit exists cause of how many people own it here on JBO. Where did you get it from?? They couldn't find a part number or anything listed and he searched for a decent amount of time too. So the questions . . .

1) Where do you find the GM Supercharger kits for the 2.2 Ecotec?
2) Do you know the part number for the kit from GM?

My question I wanted to ask them is pretty noobish, but I'm not sure. I know on the Cobalt SS/SC that you can get the factory Stage 2 kit installed that puts it up to 241hp. With this seperate supercharger kit for the Ecotecs, can you still do a stage 2 kit upgrade, or is that it? I'm looking into buying the kit, and I'm just trying to figure out prices and estimates on hp gain and what not. However, since they can't find a listing or a part number, I can't get any prices, hence I don't know what my discount can get it for, etc.

Anyone help me out?

Actually you'd be surprised. I just got the quote from the parts department today using the parts number (Thanks Fast Cavi) and my price through GM is $2600. So it doesn't matter who I go through, I'm still paying an arm and a leg, lol

the dealer prices aren't very good. generally 3% above cost and since cost is almost $2500 your almost better off going through pace parts.

to answer your second question yes you can go with the stage 2 upgrade. the gm reflash however will not work very well with it since you'll be dropping pulley sizes past that magical 3.3" size.

if your going to go beyond the stock boost then go with hp tuners instead of the gm reflash and don't get the reflash at all since once done on a stock ecu you cannot use hpt.

if you have any other questions just browse or search the boost forum since there are thousands of post concerning the kit, stage upgrades, and hpt

If someone want to make a few bucks, and purchase one for me at 1600 and ship it to me I will pay extra for it.

i know when you joined dumb ass , unlike you i actually LOOKED at something before speaking

if youd learn that BOOST related questions belong in boost - http://www.j-body.org/forums/list.php?f=40

you wouldnt have found what you needed with out even asking , and since you didnt search that puts you back at newbie status

Then what is the whole point of making a "performance" forum is all you can ask is about intakes & exhaust without getting hassled by douchebags like yourself?? I got my answers a*shole, so back the f*ck off.

As for others. Sndsgood, that price would probably be for the other supercharger kit. When we were looking through the system, the only one the system listed for Cavalier superchargers was the Supercharger Kit for the 2.4L engine. My price on that one was actually $1450. For some odd reason until I gave them the new part number the the Supercharger for the 2.2, the system didn't have it listed, lol. It doesn't make any sense to me though. Why the other supercharger kit and mine differ by almost $1000. I mean for 50hp and 40tq, it almost doesn't seem worth it. I can go for a turbo setup for $2300 and I'll be up to 230hp running the normal boost. So I'm still debating on what to do.

Thanks Cody on that answer. I thought they had to flash the ECU anyways when installing the s/c kit for the new settings, fuel mapping, etc? Didn't know they could do it without it

head from the top of the PERFORMANCE FORUM

Quote:

Performance Forum
Discussions about performance modifications to j-body automobiles which do not involve any kind of forced induction or nitrous. Topics in any way related to turbo or supercharger should go in the Boost forum, and nitrous topics in the Nitrous Oxide forum.

reason for the boost fourm was to keep boost realated questions easily seen for those that want boost

which is also the same reason for performance so people can see the posts they need to

also youll be at or around 200whp with the s/c , as long as you have a header back exhaust and intake , prob alot closer to 220

i think the point others are trying to make is that even if this does belong in a different forum you dont have to be an ass about it, just simply say "this should be in boost not in performance, just for future reference"

Thank you Ghostly, someone atleast gets the point . . . 92% of this forum just find anyone reason to start an e-battle

97TRD, yea, thats what i was going to do. I figured I'd have the full exhaust with the s/c kit, along with new engine and trans mounts. Figured it'd be a nice kick.
