my new spec clutch

to make a long story short, i got my clutch installed by cottman transmission a brand new spec stage 2 clutch, and i took it for a test drive, and i was like wtf the pedal is soft as @!#$, goes all the way to the floor if i barely press on it, and it engages at the very very very top. what the hell is going on here, the mechanic was trying to throw some "its a hydraulic clutch and thats how it is" bull@!#$ they were also telling me i had bought a cheap @!#$ty clutch which i know is not true, i bought it straight from spec and have only heard good things, even with a stock clutch its not supposed to feel this way either, i really need some advice. thanks.

Thats how my SPEC stage 2 clutch feels. Really easy to move and only engages at the very top. I just learned to live with it. Not sure if its supposed to be like that, its my first manuel car and first time I have had to change clutches.

I also got the SPEC light weight flywheel put in at the same time.

Well I don't really drive stick that much but it makes total sense to me. You got a race clutch that is really sensitive. It will grip alot faster right? So I believe that it would grip as soon as you touch the clutch instead of having to press the clutch far down for it to grip. Thus allowing you to switch gears faster.
Are we able to adjust clutch pedals on J-Bodys?

That's the way it's supposed to be. You want to be on the pedal as little as possible so they make it break higher. You'll get used to it.

ok cool i feel a lil better, i dont trust these people and i wanted to make sure that they installed what i wanted them to, as long as the clutch is supposed to be that way then its all good.

Wait until you get some miles on it. The pedal will lower some.

Honestly I have to say I am dissapointed in my SPEC stage 2 clutch. Its fine for everything but racing. During the summer after 6-8 pulls donw the track it gets so soft it won't hold in 2nd. Next clutch is def going to be a stage 3.

On another note anyone tried the new stage 2+ SPEC cluthc? It just came out a few months ago and I have been wondering what they did to put in between 2 and 3.

I have the Stage III. This is my third one (one on my 98, 2 on my 00). Lets just say I need a fourth. I think I'll be going to Bully clutches on this round though.

with the mods you have listed I would say it is how you drive it. I have drag radials, and TG LSD in the burnout box I was in second gear and allowed the car to pull out of the box and clutch grip and nearly stalled the car out.

That could be. Like i said before, its my first 5 spd and I bet there is lots of room for improvement in my driving. My times say it all. Imporovements comming this summer hopefully.
