I bought this stainless steel muffler tip for my 03 sunfire. The muffler end angles down a little bit on my car so I guess it's necessary to cut it. What's the best way to cut it? Also will this tip make my car louder or will it just stay the same?
Ractive Stainless Steel Muffler Tip

Use a hacksaw or a chain pipe cutter.

Your exhaust will sound the same... it might rattle and clank if you dont weld it and only use the "bolt on" method.
Im gonna return the tip and buy a performance muffler and have that installed instead. I just wanted to save some money but I want something with a deep sound to it and not overely loud either that the cops are going to tell me to get rid of it. Does anyone have any suggestions to a good performance muffler that will fit a 03 sunfire coupe?

well, the problem with cavaliers + sunfires is, at least this is how mine was, its one solid piece of pipe from the rear of the cat all the way to the end. the stock muffler is actually part of the pipe. so, my recommendation would be to save some money for a while and get yourself a full 2 1/4 cat back exhaust. don't buy premade, just get yourself a muffler like a dynomax super turbo, and the longest resonator you can fit after the cat. take it to a muffler shop, and have them weld you up a 2 1/4 system using the muffler and res. you have. shouldn't cost more than $250 all together, and you'll be much happier with the results.

What year is your J? I'll take a look underneath tomorrow in the daylight at the exhaust to see if it's all one piece but I assume that a newer J like an 03 wouldn't be all one solid piece.

lol, you'd probably assume wrong exhaust is the same 95-05

..pretty sure they are all one piece
