hey, i got the obx 4-1 header and it seems to be making a hissing noise. ive checked to see if there was a leak some where and couldnt find one. is there anything that will help to seal up the cup and ball flange joint ? it doesnt use a donut or gasket so im thinking of using some high temp copper rtv in the cup just to give it something to feel the grooves in the metal . if you know of anything let me know thanks.
ITS ALL FUN IN GAMES TILL SOMEONE GETS SHOT IN THE LEG
you shouldnt have a leak at that flange atleast i never have ith my pacesetter...have you tried tightening it more? you can also get someone on the back tailpipe of te car with a rag and briefly cover the exhaust and it should tell you where more easily..phil
my pacesetter stock...leaked. the exhaust shop said they used a longer bolt, and double-nutted that header to downpiple flange, and as far as i know its been fine since, although ive had rattling from the rear since...but i did cat-back plus welded-in resonator and header all within a few days...i dont think its related...but i dont know for sure.
best thing to do is bring it to an exhaust shop. ask the writer to put it up on a lift, and look at it with him, under the lift. most honest, good people will not have a problem with that. i used to work at a car dealer, so meineke shop owners always deal with me directly, let me go in the shop and work at it with them, and come to a mutual decision and solution.
see if you can do that with an exhaust shop by you. most will only charge you one hour of labor at max to diagnose and fix one or two minor exhaust pipe issues... and a good one will keep you included in the entire process.
