Hey all, I have a PnP head that is in need of some work, it needs a new (rather rebuilt) rocker tower (where the rocker arm screws down to) somehow it got crushed. I called the closest race shop to here that builds and rebuilds motors and they said that they can do the work, just quoted me a minimal 4 hour job at $80/hour. does this sound right?
the head itself otherwise has some $1000 of machine work done to it already (bought it that way) so it would be cheaper to get this one rebuilt rather than to rework a stock head.
what do you think about the price? $320 is worth it, but am i getting taken for a ride here? i dont think i am, just need some more opinions from those who've gotten machine work done in the past. Thanks!
Well, I'm curious as to how someone managed to put $1000 in machine work into a LN2 head...any pics?

better a delay than a disaster.
Yea really ^^^ I had my 2200 Head Ported Polished, 3 angle valve job and Flow benched for $400.00 If you need A stock 2200 head I have one for sale.
Well i was told it was upwards of 1000, i really honestly have no idea
I can take some pics of it but i have to dig it ouf of storeage and use a camera phone if youd like ill do that...
does it sound worth it to get the work done? or to just do the work over with a stock head?
Well I would get pics of the Head, Cause I am curious to see whats all done for $1000.00 bucks. If its messed up really bad, I would just work over a new head, Cause whos to say that what ever cause the damage in the fist place didn't crack the head somewhere, or miss alligned something else where not vissible to the eye.
ken, how much for the head... also what year is it from? and will it work with a 99?
Well, theres more on the head than just machineing, i dont know why i didnt think of it before, I bought the head with new +1mm valves and new springs and retainers (not sure of the specs on those anymore). That plus the headwork probably put it somewhere towards 1000 im guessing, and thats not an exact number either, sorry i was vague before guys, i posted those without my head screwed on right. Ill get pics sometime this weekend, whenever work doesnt beat the hell out of me and I still have some energy left to do it.
Im taking the head to the shop on tuesday for them to look at it, should i go through with it? ( I did ask them the potential for other damage, and they said they would check it and see if anything else under the surface could be wrong, honestly though im doubting ... mostly hoping... that there isnt) But i can still back out and take it somewhere else? is this a good idea?
thanks again jbo!
do you guys know where i can get a good p&p done for a little nitrous build? im having problems finding places that arent charging out the ass for them....
Ken where did you end up going for the P&P on ur OHV? I have 2 spare heads in my garage and planned on getting one ported. Keep in mind I'm rather close to where you live, and the ported head would go nicely with your "manifold" that you might have started progress on lol.
Thanks
im just wanting a decent p&p, for a decent price also. ken got any suggestions?
