I have searched all over the place and couldnt find any info on this. I bought a LO manifold and TB last year from someone on ebay. The TB that came with this manifold has the 2.4L TPS mounting holes on it. What year did this come off of. It is def a 56mm TB because I measured and compared it to my stock 2002 2.4L LD9 TB. When I got it the tps was broken so I just put on my 2.4L one. Now I think I am having problems with it and want to put the 2.3 quad 4 tps on it. I have read this is the right way to do it. I went out to get a new TPS for it and the one I got was for a 94 Pontiac GA with DOHC Quad 4. This one does not even bolt up to it. The numbers on the TB are MPFI A.C. Rochester 5145 0935 1.
You may want to refer to the post I started yesturday about having problems with the H.O. TB. I got it all sorted out today and it runs perfect.
I have been watching your post. That is why I went out to buy a 2.3 quad 4 today and it wont even bolt up to my TB.
I'm not sure of the part number but I do believe I pulled mine off of a 94' Grand Am vin A. I'm not sure if the TPS varies between H.O. and non-H.O. I assume it doesn't. I had a probably trying to get a pre 1990 56mm TB to work on the LD9. Everything I have done in the past two days has worked fine. Including the 90-94 TB, the 2.3 sensor that was on it, and the 2.3 IAC sensor that was on it. Non of the stock 2.4 sensors were used.
Go to your autoparts store, the one I found to work every time I have done this install is off of the 95 Pontiac Sunfire GT and/ or the 95 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. That should clear up your problem, and also make sure you are using the both 2.3l HO TB Sensors.
One more question I have for you. When you messured the TB that came with the Intake Manifold, did you meassure the very top of the TB opening? Or did you measure all the way down to the butterfly? Make sure you meassure all the way down to the butterfly. The reason for this is because on both the 2.3l and the 2.4l TB the very top of the opening of the TB messures 56mm. It is down by the butterfly is where you messure, that is where on the 2.4l TB is meassures 52mm and where the 2.3l meassures 56mm. You can also tell just by looking at it. On the 2.3l TB the opening is straight down al the way to the butterfly. While on the 2.4l TB it is 56mm at the top but bottlenecks down to the butterfly where it meassures 52mm. So before you waist more money on sensors, meassure at the butterfly and make sure it is 56mm. If it is not and it happenes to meassure out at 52mm then you have the 2.4l TB and need to put the 2.4 sensors back on it. This is just some info that I figured I would throw out for you. Good luck. If you have any questions email me or PM me I have done this swap ALOT.
In the planning stage for an all American TRD Cavalier.
I measured the actual butterfly with a micrometer. I believe this throttlebody came off a 95 2.3. The 95 2.3 tps looks just like the 96-02 2.4 but has a different part number. A 94 and down tps is completely different and wont even bolt up to the 95 and up throttle bodies. The 95 throttle body on a 2.3 is 56mm and is mounted with 2 bolts. 96-02 Throttle body is 52mm is mounted with 4 bolts. The one I have came on a LO manifold which i believe came from a 95.
