ok i would like to know how much horsepower my car has, is chevy cavalier 2004 base sedan i searched in google and in all the webpages says that my cavy has 140hp is this true or not
one question i have a brother that has a dodge neon sxt 2005 i looked in google and it says his car has 132 hp and my ar 140hp right, but why when i drive his car the acceleration is a lot better and is a whole lot faster than my cavy, smoother, i barely need to press the gas bu with my cavy is different
why is that, god damn you cavaliers lol
also i have an uncle who has celica 2002 and i know celicas gt have 140hp right but is much much much faster than my car and acceleration is better
it sucks
i kow some people consider celicas sport cars but those peoples are idiot i dont conider a car sport car just for the looks , that is a show car not a sport car, for me a asport car is car that has at least 250hp is a combination between tperformance and looks not just looks

Well I was typing out the specs for you but my computer went retarded on me. To give you the facts yes you are right with the HP numbers. But you also have to take into account weight and gearing on a car. According to Car & Driver the Neon runs 0-60 in 7.9 seconds and the cavalier runs 0-60 in 8.0 seconds. Not much of a difference if you ask me. In the quarter mile the cavalier actually has the higher speed at 85 mph but both cars finish with 16.1 according to car and driver.
So to remember it's not just how much HP you have it also includes TQ, what RPM they kick in, what the gearing ratio is, and how much the car weighs. Also as a side note I've noticed that just some cars the peddle responds better than others. My stock 2.4 Sunfire has better throttle response than my S/C 2.2 Cavalier. It's just how it is and my sunfire "feels" faster when driving around town but I know from track numbers that my cavalier is more than 2 seconds faster.
also one car can have better tires. ability of driver in a manual, and if its a auto VS manual race.

im not sure about the other cars but cavaliers have throttle cables and in my experiences electronic throttle always seems to accelerate faster
actually im pretty sure that the celica gt has 181hp, not sure tho

Well, seeing as the gts weighs something like 2500 lbs and the 350z weighs 3200 lbs... I wouldn't sell a 180hp 4 cyl short...especially if you place it behind the front seats in an all aluminum chassis (elise/ exige)
I drove my brother's Z when he had it a couple years ago...and although it handled like nothing else, I wasn't too terribly impressed with it's straightline.

I want to run an SRT4 but never seem to come across any. SXTs and celica GTs are garbage.
eco + stock + auto + 4 doors = slow
mod your car a bit and turn the tables, the eco is a very capable of putting the big time hurt on a lot of people who think they have 'fast' cars.
you don't need spray or boost either.. I'm almost in the 13s all motor with a stock block eco.

yes pj is right I have a few bolts on and I found myself beating 240s, rsx's, gsxs..etc Eco's in automatic are so @!#$ slow. I drove a couple at work and they are piss slow, felt slower than my old 97 cavy 3 spd lol. j-bodies with 5 spd trannys are nice. Just that slushbox is holding you back.

thats why it was replaced by the cobalt, is not that i hate cavys is just that chevy should have put more effort on that car
yeah you have beaten rsx and scion blah blah etc etc but you have modded your car thats why is fast now but try racing, you and the other person just both with stock
the scion would kick your ass

IIRC, TC's have the @!#$ty, weak ass Camry crank anyways. No one has yet to snap a crank in any Quad 4 or ECO that I am aware of. Do a little research before you start making outlandish claims in a sight dedicated to cavaliers and sunfires. Some people might start taking offense
And one last tid bit...The ECO has dominated the 4 cylinder class of drag cars for a few years (Don't know if it still does)...not the infamous 4g63T or sr20DET or EJ25 or ...

240's arent fast cars ... the stock KA is a torque monster , hence the drifting ... not the top end racing. And base model RSX's yes ... but Type S' , i highly doubt it.
Even with my full exhaust, intake ,and short throw on my LS Sport ... a stock type S would get away from me.

1. What other cars are faster at the same price as the cavalier?
2.Why put more effort into the car? its a cheap econo box that wasn't meant to go fast...its not the corvette
3.You sure about that scion? I mean it runs a high 15 second quarter mile...with a good driver..
Plus...lets look at the price of all these cars...
I'll go by what iv found since i happen to be looking at these three cars as well as a couple others as a commuter to replace the grand.

And 05 Cav can be had for next to nothing(Under 7000 no problem)
05 Tc can be had for around 15000 on average
And an 02 yes 2002 RSX can be had for around 10-12...mainly around 12. Sometimes even more..
