Help with Rockers
Saturday, January 20, 2007 10:47 PM
well i was browsing around and seen some Comp Cams 1.6 rockers for the sunfire and my dad has a Grand Prix GTP which has 1.6 rockers and he upgraded so would his stock 1.6 rockers from the 3.8l V6 work in the 2.2l non ecotech sunfire? and what is the HP and TQ gain with a 1.6 rocker and is that as big as i can go?

Thanks

Nope. The rocker arm conversion is for the 95-97 engine (harder to do on the 98-02). Additionally the rockers you need are for the 60 degree V6. The L67 (GTP) is a 90 degree V6.

Either way, you need to get rockers for the 60 degree V6. Comp Cams PN IIRC is 1414-1 (the -1 means 1 rocker) and you'll need 8 of them.

Then studs for a 60 degree v6. I believe the guide posted on here said to go for a 89 Chevy Celebrity w/ 2.8 V6, if you're going by the car. Not sure right off hand what the PN is.

No...
You don't want stock rockers from a Celebrity. Stockers are 1.5, same as the 2.2 engine. You want 1.6 rockers that fit a Celebrity.

However.... the rocker studs will be necessary. It's best to just get the stuff new though.

Yes, but if you do you'll want to look into stiffer valve springs.
