Turbo oil supply

I have a 1989 sunbird Le 2.0L OHC non-turbo, and i was putting a garrett T3/T4 turbo on it, and was wondering if i could use an oil cooler kit i have found for the car and use it to run to the turbo for the oil to cool, it is one that screws into where the oil filter is, then runs to the cooler then a return to the oil pan im guessing? can anyone help?

You are asking if you can run the oil from the filter to the turbo and the turbo will cool it, and not use the radiator?

The turbo is going to heat the oil up a LOT.

No, what i meant was, i found an oil cooler for the sunbird, it has a thing that screws into where the oil filter goes that you take the lines to the cooler off of, i was wodering if i could run the line to the turbo, because the oil is what cools the ball bearings in the turbo (T3/T4), and then run it to the cooler, then back to the oil pan by drilling and taping for a fitting in the oil pan for a return line

You can't really do it as you described it. The adapter you're referring to feeds oil out to the cooler, then it has to come back to get in to the filter and the rest of the engine. That's why there are two fittings on the adapter...an outlet and an inlet.

However, what you could do is tee the outlet line, send one side of the tee back in to the inlet and the other side to the turbo. The disadvantage of doing it this way is you would be sending unfiltered oil to your turbo. Bad news waiting to happen, if you ask me.

You could, but you are effectively bypassing the filter (goes out of the block, through the turbo, through the cooler, and back into the block). I believe you have to plumb the other side back into the bracket that goes to the cooler so that it pipes back into the filter.
